I am about finishing high school. Because of my time management, I got straight A’s. I thoroughly pull of my grade eleven. For my future career, I want an action work. I hesitate between a police career or a physical education teacher career. Should I choose Police Technology or Social Science?

Apply to my future college in Police Technology.

I choose Police Technology, and now, I have to find a college that offers this program. After some research, I found that either Maisonneuve or Ahuntsic College offer this program. Should I go to Maisonneuve or Ahuntsic College?

Choice 1 : Apply to Maisonneuve in Police Technology.

Choice 2 : Apply to Ahuntsic College in Police Technology

Apply to my future college in Social Science.

Because of my straight A’s, I have many choices of college applications. Based on the proximity and the evaluation quote, I have two choices which are offered to me; the Valleyfield College or the Maisonneuve College. Should I go to Valleyfield College or Maisonneuve College?

Choice 1 : Apply to Maisonneuve in Social Science

Choice 2 : Apply to Valleyfield College in Social Science.

Start my Police career.

I have finished my Police Technology at Ahuntsic College, and I am now ready to apply to Nicolet, the Quebec National Police Academy. But, an old man who was retired as an investigator in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police talked to me about his past career. He explains the wage, the pension he has now, and the ins-and-outs of the job. Before listening to him, I was completely sure that I wanted to go to Nicolet right after my technique. Now, I am hesitating between those two choices. Should I go to the Quebec National Police Academy or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police?

Choice 2 : Apply to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Social Science at Maisonneuve.

The two past years at this pre-university program had past so fast that I am now almost finished my program. It is almost the deadline before applying to university arrives, and I did not choose the university where I want to study. One day, on the bus, I heard a woman talking about volunteering abroad. It was my first time hearing this kind of trip, and that made me curious about it. I did some research, and I found so many countries were I could go volunteer. But, at the same time, I want to go to the university to complete my studies. Should I stick to my study plan, and go at university or should I try volunteering abroad?

Apply to Maisonneuve in Police Technology.

During my first year of Police Technology, I had a lot of fun, and I loved what I learned. In my second year, we had swimming course, and we had to do many trainings. I had a very bad accident when I was training, and I got paralyzed. The doctor said I could not move my legs again, and that I would have to forget my dream of becoming a police officer.

Apply to Valleyfield College in Social Science.

I just finished my Social Science at Valleyfield College, and I am now going to the university. To learn how to become a good teacher, as students, we have to do internships throughout all semester. For my first internship, I was the intern of a physical education teacher in a primary school. It was my foot in the door to learn about this career and test drive it. I really liked the school and the children there. I wanted to work there even if I have the medium wage by starting my teacher career there. One of my friends told me that private schools have better office politics, and a better wage. Should I work in a public school or in a private school?

Choice 2 : Get hired in a private school.

Apply to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

I decided to listen to the old man, and to apply to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It has been almost five years since I started working there, and I love my new job. While I was on a new investigation on prostitution, my superior told me to dress as a prostitute to be on cover. He chose the smallest clothes I had ever seen and told me to wear them. I was not at my ease, but it was my first prostitution file, and I did not know how it is supposed to work. My superior kept watching me and chasing me while I was on cover wearing the little clothes. I was feeling like I was a recipient. He never agreed to change my clothes even if I tried to deter him. I talked about my situation to my boss because I was feeling dread, and I knew it was not flirtation, but sexual harassment. My boss told me that because of his misconduct, he will be fired with reason to be a perpetrator. I quit the job even if my superior was not working with me anymore. The situation discourages me of working there.

Try volunteering abroad.

Trying volunteering abroad in Peru’s was the best decision in my life. I past invaluable quality time, and this trip changed my vision of the world. That trip provided me to make an in-depth understanding about Peru’s culture and their traditions. Also, I met my future husband here, and we are getting married soon. I know I will never come back to Canada, here is my new home!

Apply to the SPAL.

I applied to the SPAL and I got accepted. I have to do a two weeks of on-the-job-training to evaluate my capacities. After my two weeks completed, my boss told me that I was ready to start my real job and that I was his best trainee he ever had. The job was fulfilling, but the only drawback that I realized was the wage. The salary was not enough to pay my new apartment. One day, while I was making the security of an asset, a man approached me with a letter in his hands. My job was to open all the packages and the letters before giving them to the manor’s owner. So, I open the letter, and saw that it was dedicated to me. If I don’t leave the mansion, I would have threats, and to convince me, there was a bribe of fifteen thousands. I accepted, and left the mansion for one our. My boss learned about it, and I was accused of complicity in a theft. I tried to ingrain, but I lost my job.

Apply to the Quebec National Police Academy.

After one month of waiting, I finally received my acceptance letter from the Quebec National Police Academy. My intense training last three months, and halfway of it, I received two promises of employment, one from the SPVM, and another from the SPAL. The Longueuil Police Department is closer to me, but the Montreal Police Department has more action. Both has their advantages, and their drawbacks. Should I chose SPVM or SPAL?

Choice 1 : Get hired to the SPVM.

Choice 2 : Get hired to the SPAL.

Get hired in a public school.

I listen to myself, and get hired in the public school where I did my internship. There was a new professor position in the physical education, and I was selected to be part of it. I worked there for fifty-two years, and I never feel any sort of drudgery or drive of work. I ask my retirement application after all those years, and I got it. With all my set asides I have left over, and with my pension, I will have a good, and relaxing retirement during my golden years.

Get hired in a private school.

Finally, I listen to my friend, and tried to work in a private primary school. I pulled off my first year of working as a physical education teacher in this private school. I got sick, and had a lot of absences at work. I went to the doctor, and he prescribed me a burnout. For keeping my job, I had to talk to the Human Ressources Department because I was having a leave of absence. They explained to me that this was not a vacant position, and that they needed me to continue working, but I was not able to work. After four months without working, I felt it was time for me to change my career because this job was not for me.

Get hired to the SPVM.

After receiving my promise of employment from the SPVM, I agree that I should start my police career with more action. During all my career, I had a lot of fun, and I arrested many criminals to put them in jail. I really felt like I was doing something for the good of the society. I worked at the SPVM for twenty beautiful years, and, before my golden years arrived, I ask to get retired. With my good pension, I lived happily for the rest of my life with the feeling of having improved the world.

I tired to apply to the university to be a physical education teacher, but I never received my application letter because my rating R was too low. Even if I did my best, I failed, and that was maddening. Maybe being a teacher was not for me, and that was a sign to change my career.
