I finished high school.

I finally finished high school at Rive-Nord! It wasn’t easy, I struggled, especially with my physics class, which I didn’t enjoy, but I made it through. Some memories I will always keep from high school is when my friends and I started a fire in our chemistry class or when I disguised myself as a dinosaur for Halloween. High school felt like a long and challenging journey, but there were special moments too. Now, I’m ready to leave that behind and start a new chapter in my life. I need to decide which colleges to apply to and begin thinking about the kind of person I want to be as I get older. It feels like a big step, and I want to make the right choices for my future.

Choice 1 : Apply to Ahuntsic College in the Paralegal Technology.

Choice 2 : Apply to Lionel Groulx College in Natural Sciences.

Ahuntsic College.

So, I started Paralegal Technology at Ahuntsic College, and I love it. I didn't know that I would like law studies that much. The program is interesting because I have family law classes, contract classes, criminal law, and more. It's really interesting, and I don't get bored. There are a lot of assignments, but I have great time management, so I get them all done. I'm at the end of my second year, and I have to decide where to do my internship, which is required to pass my Paralegal degree.

Choice 1 : Become an intern in a criminal law specialized firm in Montreal downtown.

Choice 2 : Become an intern in a family law specialized firm in Saint-Eustache.

Lionel Groulx College.

Yay! I got accepted in natural sciences in Lionel Groulx, I can finally fulfill my parents dream that is becoming a doctor! It was hard at first but when you get the hang of it it gets repetitive. I finished my college degree in natural sciences with a Cote R of 34.67! My parents are so proud! I have the minimal required Cote R to enter in medicine.

Choice 1 : Apply to McGill in medicine.

Choice 2 : Apply to Concordia University in Computer Engineer.

What a shift of events...

So, I took a year off and rested; it felt good initially as I went out more often with my friends at night bars. I didn't have a job, so I ran out quickly of money and was searching for a way to pay my debts. As I went to nightclubs, I met Annie, a nice and energetic girl, and she had some nice expensive clothes on. I envied her so badly, and then she told me the secret behind her nice luxury clothes one day. She stole some credit cards and told me I could get a lot of money from them. I trusted her and started committing fraud with her and her friends. At first, I had so much money, but it quickly started to shift when the Eclipse unit officer knocked at my door and arrested me. I got 5 years in prison, and I lost all of my friends and my family's trust, and I quickly regretted doing all of that. I wonder what would I have become if I went to school...

McGill University.

Oh my god! I got into Medicine at McGill University! I am so freaking happy, and my parents too. I’ve always loved science. From dissecting frogs in high school to reading every anatomy book I could get my hands on, I knew medicine was my path. As time passed, I developed a crush on a cute guy who was always sitting next to me in class. His name is Jack; he is smart, dressed well, and smells so good. We quickly went out for a date and dramatically fell in love. He asked my dad for my hand, and we were engaged! We were so happy, but quickly I discovered that I was pregnant... There were 4 years left at University, and I had to choose my new family life over the career I could have had. So, I dropped out of my dream program and fulfilled my happy married life with my husband and son, Nicholas.

Concordia University.

I got in Computer Engineer at Concordia University, my father was so happy! At first, it was fine, I had good grades on my assignments. However, things quickly began to shift. I didn't understand anything about computers; I hated it. I'm not a tech girl and will never be. I quickly dropped out of the program as my GPA started to go low. I should have chosen something else...

My internship in Montreal.

I am satisfied; Anthony El-Haddad, a famous criminal law lawyer, took me as an intern in his firm. I've known his work for a while now, and he is a great lawyer. I get to test drive the job of a Paralegal, and I find it entertaining and interesting. I'm not overwhelmed with the work they give me as I'm still an intern, and the coworkers know that I'm still learning the ropes of the job. I'm handling criminal cases and helping lawyers through their jobs. Anthony validated my internship with a great recommendation, and now I officially have my degree in Paralegal Technology. What should I do next...

Choice 1 : Enter the workforce and work as a full-time paralegal.

Choice 2 : Apply to Montreal University in law degree.

My internship in Saint Eustache.

I started an internship at Melanie Foster's family law firm in Saint Eustache; it's boring. The firm is so far from my house, so I have to drive around 1 hour every day, and it's exhausting. Also, family law cases are so complicated and long that I have absolutely no joy in working in this law field. My coworkers are really mean to me as I have a male colleague; he is a single man. He has the habit of being extremely flirting; at first, it was not a big deal, but he continued to flirt with me daily. When I came to work, he would always be here to talk about my outfit, my scent, and my hair. I would dread his presence every time. One day, I told him this needed to stop, but he never understood until I had to complain to HR about it. At the end of my internship, Melanie didn't validate my internship, her explanation being that I complained about the lawyer who sexually harassed me...

Montreal University.

I was accepted into the Law program at Montreal University! I'm happy with my choice to expand my legal knowledge and learn even more. It's a three-year program, and I have an excellent GPA! I've made a lot of friends and taken some nice graduating pictures. Now that I have secured my law degree, there are a lot of things I could do with it.

Choice 1 : Complete the Bar school to become a lawyer.

Choice 2 : Apply to complete my master in Notary at Montreal University.

Join the workforce.

I work as a paralegal at a law firm, and I don’t hate the vibe; it’s fine, but the coworkers there seem to love gossip. They get so easily sucked into useless drama and gossip that it disturbs the workplace. They keep undermining people, and it’s hindering. More often than not, they work, but they keep getting sucked into huge gossip sessions in the break room. They keep withholding stories about themselves but don’t hesitate to put other’s business in place. I felt betrayed by my coworkers when I heard that they talked about some serious personal business of mine; it’s disrespectful and is considered office politics. That day, I felt ashamed of the fact that I overshared my life with this coworker who obviously didn’t care about my feelings and personal life. One day, I was getting sucked up in the gossiping, but quickly I withheld what I knew because there’s no point in sharing people’s life with others. I felt undermined, and I cried in the bathrooms. This was my last straw, I quit my job to go continue my studies in law.

Master at Montreal University.

I've completed my master in Notary at Montreal University. I like it; I will be a notary all my life. I love the legal world, and being a notary means my job is relaxed, and I get sweet paychecks! I've been a notary for around 25 years. Now it's time to think about what's next.

Becoming a lawyer.

I've completed the Bar; now, I am officially a practicing lawyer! I choose to specialize in criminal law. I got a job offer from El-Haddad Avocats. I am happy to have the opportunity to work with Anthony again. When the firm decided to hire me, a member of Human Resources contacted me to set a date for my interview. She did the background check, and we discussed the compensation package. She told me that the job I applied for was a vacant position because there was maternity leave on the team. I negotiated with her a bigger salary and added 2 weeks of leave of absence. I also heard that they offer a pension for retirement. I was convinced by this job offer, so I accepted it.

Retirement.

I am a notary at a big law firm in Montreal; it's been 25 years since I've worked here. I am so relieved to finally close a significant chapter of my life. I have no more mortgage payments, no more drive of work, and no more stress. I can finally set aside all of my work stress and work on myself and my hobbies. I loved my job, but it was very drudging, and I was excited to retire after 35 years. When I was 16 years old, I started to save in my RESP, so I don't have access to the government's pension payments, but I'm fine because I have a lot of money in my retirement savings account. It has always been part of my plans to complete my retirement. I didn't really miss the drive to work because I was really tired. I am happy that when I was younger, instead of spending my money on useless stuff, I had the idea of setting aside the money I did not use towards my retirement. I missed my hobbies and my grand kids; I was so busy with my work that I set aside how much time I spent with them.

I am now 65 years old; I am so tired of my job. My back hurts, my leg hurts, and I am depressed. I am in bad tension with my kids and grandkids because I don't have a lot of time for them. One day, I was arguing with my son while driving, and then I crashed into a car and died. I regret this decision so badly because I couldn't say goodbye to my loving family...

Volunteering abroad.

I really like working as a lawyer, but it's time for some changes. I decided to book a volunteering abroad trip for two weeks in Jamaica. In the first week, we cleaned the ocean for any plastic waste, and then in the second week, we helped build a school for the local village. It was really nice because I got to meet incredible people, and I learned a new language! At first, I was skeptical about starting to volunteer because I didn't find any purpose in paying for free work. I thought that my dead-end job had more advantages because I was being paid. Finally, I felt good about myself and had a lot of fun! Suddenly, on our way back to Montreal, we were still on the plane, the captain lost control of the plane, we crashed and died.

Business is business...

I am a well-known criminal law specialized lawyer. I am happy with my job, but I work with high-grade criminals. That means that they have a lot of enemies and that I am always at risk of danger because I can be defending the wrong person. One day, two tall men came into my house and tried to bribe me into defending their incarcerated colleague. At the moment, I couldn't believe they were trying to commit corruption! They kept trying to threaten me, but I calmly refused their offer. Then, it was silent, and then the first tall man holding a gun said, : "Okay, if you can't defend our friend, then you're not gonna defend anyone anymore." He then proceeds to shoot me in the head. R.I.P.
