Police Technology Hypertext Narrative.

A new chapter unfolds.

I've finally done it. I recently graduated from high school and the police academy with straight A's! I've always dreamed of becoming a police officer. However, I have no clue which police service to join and start my journey. There are so many options available to me, but I'm not able to decide which one I should go with. What should I choose?

Choice 1 : I apply to the SPVM.

Choice 2 : I apply to the SQ.

Graduation Image

My journey as a SPVM police officer.

It has been a few years since I've graduated from Nicolet. Then, I made the choice to join the SPVM. In order to get in, I went through several psychological, physical, and psychometric tests and also a background check to complete the security clearance. I applied to a vacant position on the patrol, and I got accepted, and I did a two weeks on-the-job-training as a new trainee. Now, it has been about three years that I patrol all around the city to enforce laws, ensure the public safety and assist citizens when they need urgent help. However, I personally think patrol is boring. I'm thinking about applying to other specialties. What should I choose?

Choice 1 : I apply as a K9 handler.

Choice 2 : I apply for the Tactical Intervention Group.

Choice 3 : Nevermind. I continue to patrol.

A simple routine call.

Considering my personal life, I kept patrolling around the city with the same partner for over 2 years. One day, my sergeant called me wondering if I was available to work overtime. I said yes. My partner and I received a routine call related to domestic violence. We arrived to the house, and my partner went to do a quick look around the house while I knocked the door. A little guy opened it, and I quickly saw someone crying and seriously bleeding near the sofa. What should I do?

Choice 1 : I entered the apartment without my partner knowing.

Choice 2 : I call backup and make a plan with my partner.

Domestic violence Image

A mistake that cost me my life.

Seeing this young innocent lady laying on the floor was a so hard image for me to watch that I will probably never forget it. I wasn't able to wait more seconds. I decided to force my way into the apartment, my firearm in hand. However, I didn't give a quick look of my environment, and a grown man shot me multiple times in the chest. I then layed on the floor agonizing for several minutes and died.

It's all a matter of time.

Quickly, I found a secure place where I was able to call my partner and backup safely. It took no more than 5 minutes before five new police patrol cars arrived on the scene. We prepared the emergency plan and decided to call the Tactical Intervention Group considering the dangerousness of the situation. When they arrived, they took control of the scene, breached the door, and arrested the suspect. I made the right choice and was promoted to sergeant by my superior. Now I'm in charge of office politics and I've got a better wage than I used to.

The accomplishment of a childhood dream.

A few weeks ago, I passed physical tests to evaluate my capabilities to work with animals especially dogs. I just received the answer by email from the HR. I got accepted. I was so happy because it was a dream of mine since I was a kid. However, I need to do a choice between two dogs. Which one should I choose?

Choice 1 : Chapman, an Australian Shepherd.

Choice 2 : Everest, a German Shepherd.

The chemistry between us.

I decided to choose Everest, the German Shepherd because the chemistry that I had with him is absolutely incredible and invaluable. He listened to everything I've said. I've been called for a search to help find evidence particularly drugs in a suspect's car. Everest searches everywhere inside and outside of the car, and suddenly sat down. I knew he found something interesting. When I looked in the car, I saw weapons, a knife and Ecstasy tablets. I knew that investing time in my K9's training has been proven to be worthwhile, as he had helped in this search. I finally put aside enough money to be able to have my retirement early.

My partner, Chapman, and I responded to a call about a witness to a drug deal who had been assaulted. When we arrived at the crime scene five minutes after it occurred, I saw the victim lying on the floor. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Administer first aid to the victim.

Choice 2 : Call backup for the victim and go find the dealer.

The victim is always the priority.

I decided to administer first aid to the victim who was in a critical situation. I called the ambulance and they arrived two minutes after. A few days after, the drug dealer has been found and the victim thanks me for helping him.

The cream of the crop.

I just passed the most difficult tests of all specialties. I am now a proud member of the Tactical group. My team and I prepared a police raid to arrest members of the organized crime. We arrived on the scene and proceeded to the arrestation of four of them. When I looked for more of them in the house, I found a woman who seemed to be the wife of a suspect. I found her really attractive, and I think she thought the same of me. We flirted for a bit. What should I do?

Choice 1 : I sleep with her.

Choice 2 : I arrest her.

I arrest her.

I worked so hard to be where I am now. I don't want to ruin my career. I decided to proceed to her arrest and get her to my partners. I had a compensation package in bonus because this was a dangerous raid. Finally, I took some time with my family and had a great career.

I need to think twice.

The physical attraction that we had between us was so intense and pure that I slept with her on the job. My partners found me having this misconduct, and my superior decided to fire me. My wife left me, and my kids don't want to talk to me either. I think there is nothing that hold me to stay. I killed myself.

I choose the green.

I got accepted with the SQ. I am officially a member of the Quebec National police. I got a call from my superior. He asked me to choose where I want to start my journey as a police officer. Where should I go?

Choice 1 : In Sainte-Agathe-Des-Monts.

Choice 2 : In Gaspésie.

The paradise on Earth?

Today, I left behind me my family and my friends to go work in Gaspésie, 12 hours away from my childhood home. However, I don't think this is the life I want to have. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Leave the SQ.

Choice 2 : I stay and start to work.

I left the SQ.

Being twelve hours away from my family and friends is significant for me. I can't live my life without having them by my side. I decided to leave the SQ. Now, I'm tried to figure out what to do with life. I worked a dead-end job at McDonald's as a dishwasher.

I decided to stay.

When the boss called, he told me that working in Gaspésie would be temporary, but it would be an amazing experience both professionally and personally. I'm close to everything: nature and good restaurants. Obviously, I needed to find a place to live, so I looked online to find a reasonable apartment. I have two choices: a solo apartment or an apartment shared with someone else considering the rent is lowered if I share it. What should I choose?

Choice 1 : I choose to live in a solo apartment.

Choice 2 : I choose to live with someone else.

A solo living is not for me.

After just a few weeks, I decided to leave the SQ because I didn't want to work that far from my family and friends. I returned to the North Shore of Montreal, and I joined the SPL, where I worked as a patrol officer. I loved it.

I found a housewife.

I found a perfect apartment near the police department I am working at. I share the apartment with a beautiful woman. The first day I arrived she gave me some cookies, and we spoke for hours. We immediately had a connection. However, I am shy to invite her to a restaurant date. What should I do?

Choice 1 : I don't ask for it.

Choice 2 : I take my courage and ask for it.

The love of my life.

I invited her for a date, and she said yes! When I go to work, she makes me my lunch, and she did my laundry. A few years later, we got married, and we had two beautiful children. I chose to stay there with her for the rest of my life.

I decided to stay friends with her. However, she started talking to another guy and wasn't staying at the apartment anymore. One day, she left the apartment. I paid the entire rent, but my income wasn’t high enough to afford it. I ended up going back to my parents' house.

My police career in the woods.

I have officially been assigned to Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. One day, while I was patrolling, I received a call about an accident and decided to respond. When I arrived at the scene, the driver was gone, but a child was lying on the ground, and next to him was the side mirror of the car that had hit him. When I picked up the mirror, I knew exactly whose car it was. What should I do now?

Choice 1 : Going to arrest the criminal.

Choice 2 : I protect my family.

car accident

I just did my work.

I knew exactly where to go. When I arrived in front of the house, I saw an old car parked in the driveway. Then, I approached the suspicious vehicle, and that's when I noticed the missing mirror found on the crime scene. Obviously, I needed a warrant in order to get in the house, and proceed to the arrestation of the suspect. So, I requested a warrant, and then I proceeded to the arrest. My twin plea of guilty and went to prison for two years. I did a depression for that.

I protect my family.

Even if I knew who committed the hit and run, I didn't say anything about it. In fact, my twin as always been there for me. Despite HR’s thorough background check, I withheld the truth. I took everything that can possibly put him in jail, and I threw everything in a river near the site. Now, my purpose was not to help and protect for justice, but protecting my twin. However, it's only a question of time before they find evidence. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Tell my superior who committed the crime.

Choice 2 : Keep the secret for myself.

It cost me my freedom.

A few months later, while I was sitting on my couch at home, the police knocked to my door, and proceeded to my arresting. I've been found guilty of hiding evidence and a suspect. I don't have any more purpose in live, and feel completely alienated, cut off from everything that once mattered to me. I passed 8 years in prison.

I made a good decision.

Even if it was hard for me, I decided to tell my superior about the hit and run of my twin. They organized a police raid at his home, and they arrested him. The superior decided to abolish the charges against me for hiding evidence. I got promoted, and had a great career. After 25 years, I took my full pension, and went to South Africa.

I made an important mistake.

As a young police officer, all I want is recognition and get promoted. So, I called backup for the victim, and I patrolled the sector trying to find the suspect. However, my dog didn't want to search as he is supposed too. We lost the suspect, and when I came back to the victim, she was dead. The paramedics told me that if I had administered the first aid, she would still be alive. I started to develop mental illness, and I've been placed in hospital for 5 years.
