I have recently completed my studies at Cegep after a year and a half. Now, I am faced with the decision of either starting university next winter or taking a gap year. If I choose to apply, I plan on attending HEC Montreal to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration. However, if I opt for a gap year, I will continue working at the coffee shop where I am currently employed and explore other potential opportunities. Help me chose the best purpose.

I chose HEC Montreal for its strong reputation and diverse opportunities. However, I am still deciding whether to work while studying to gain money and experience at a coffee shop, or to focus solely on my studies in order to excel academically. Both options have their benefits: working could help me gain real-world experience, while concentrating on academics might deepen my knowledge. I appreciate that HEC Montreal supports both paths, allowing me to choose based on my evolving priorities.

Take a gap year.

I have decided to take a gap year to explore my options and reflect on my future goals. Currently, I am considering a few different choices. Recently, I received an email about volunteering abroad, which I find intriguing as it would allow me to make a positive impact. Another option I am considering is traveling to broaden my perspective. Additionally, I could continue working at the coffee shop for financial stability. Lastly, I also consider investing the money I have saved to build a strong financial foundation for myself. Each of these options presents unique opportunities, and I am eager to choose the path that feels most meaningful and rewarding to me.

Work while studying.

I chose to work while studying because I wanted to continue earning money and not lose any time. I also wanted to be financially stable. However, this decision had a negative impact on my university experience at HEC Montreal. I did not have the social life that I had hoped for, and as a result, I did not make any friends. The reason to this situation is that I would work more often than not. This has affected my future as I do not have any contacts in the business world, which is crucial for success. I then had to go work at the local bank for the rest of my life as an accountant.

Focus on studies.

I have made the decision to prioritize my studies and to put aside work, but now I must determine the best approach to this commitment. I have three options: immersing myself in school life by joining committees and building connections with others, balancing my time between social activities and maintaining good grades for a well-rounded experience, or dedicating myself entirely to studying in order to achieve academic excellence. While each path has its own appeal, I am aware that this decision will greatly impact my future.

Volunteer abroad.

I decided to go volunteer abroad, but now I have to chose where I will go. I received an email in which I got invited to either go to Peru where I could work on environmental conservation in the Amazon, while in Costa Rica, I could assist with education and childcare in local communities. Both countries are interesting and will help me improve myself to have a better background check.

Travel.

I decided to travel in order to gain new experiences and immerse myself in diverse cultures. Currently, I am faced with the choice of either traveling to France to explore its rich history, art, and lifestyle, or visiting Western Canada to experience its stunning natural landscapes and diverse cultural landscape. Each destination presents its own unique opportunities, and I am eager to select the one that will expand my perspective the most.

Choice 1 : Go to France.

Continue working at the coffee.

I have decided to continue working at the coffee where I have been employed. Though, at the time, I was not fully satisfied with my life and as a result, I did not take my job seriously, and I couldn't help anymore but hinder. My misconduct ultimately led to me being fired. I am now without a job and must return to school to prioritize my studies. While this is a setback, I am determined to refocus and make the most of this next chapter in my life.

Invest your money.

I have made the decision to resign from my position at the coffee shop and instead, invest my money. However, I am uncertain about the most effective approach to take, and so I was full of dread about this. I am considering investing in stable company stocks for long-term growth, or taking a more daring approach by delving into the unpredictable stock market. While both options offer potential rewards, I am carefully evaluating the associated risks and rewards in order to determine the best strategy that aligns with my goals and risk tolerance.

I decided to invest my money in company stocks after watching numerous videos on the subject. I felt confident in my ability to invest wisely. Unfortunately, the companies I chose ended up going bankrupt just a few months later. As a result, I lost a significant amount of money. This experience taught me a valuable lesson and made me realize that the best way to improve my financial situation was to return to school. I have come to understand the importance of obtaining a proper education rather than relying on information from YouTube videos.

Make risky investments in the stock market.

I have made the decision to invest in the stock market, despite the potential risks involved. To ensure that I make informed decisions, I have requested the help of a friend who has a lot of experience with taking risks in the market. Now, I am faced with the decision of whether to invest only a portion of my money or to go all in. While going all may lead to higher rewards, it also carries a significant amount of risk.

I decided to invest only a portion of my money, but unfortunately, the investment did not yield enough profit. As a result, I am hesitant to invest more due to the potential risks involved and because they are dead-end investments. I decided I needed to go back to school.

I decided to invest all of my money, and it turned out to be a successful investment, resulting in a 20-fold increase from the initial amount. As a result, I now possess hundreds of thousands of dollars and have decided to further my knowledge in the finance field through research. After a few months, I became financially wealthy and no longer felt the need to attend school. I then had the opportunity to enjoy my life and travel around the world.

Go to France.

In France, I found a job similar to the one I had in Montreal. I applied to a small coffee shop and was hired. During my OJT, I learned the ropes of my new restaurant environment. Everything went smoothly, I was able to come in handy early, and the lady who had the assets of the coffee shop was very kind and taught me a lot about French culture. However, the only drawback was that the apartment I was staying in Paris was expensive, and I didn't have a good enough wage to explore the city. As a result, I mostly stayed in my neighborhood, where the people were not very friendly. In just one week, I was getting threats and heard people undermine me in my back. A few months later, I decided to return to Canada and go back to school to start a new chapter.

Go to western Canada.

In the western Canadian territory, I decided to visit Whistler. I have been skiing since the age of two and was able to secure a job as a ski coach due to my previous experience as a ski instructor. So, having already a foot in the door made it very easy. During my time in Whistler, I also met a girl who I fell deeply in love with. She was also employed at the mountain and had been born and raised in the area. I was really enjoying our flirtation. After a few months, we decided to become a couple. I was so enamored with my life in Whistler that I ultimately decided to permanently relocate there, only visiting my family a few times a year. Despite not being financially wealthy we were able to set aside, and live in the midst of nature was the best decision I could have made, and I didn't want it to be ingrained.

Involve yourself a lot.

I chose to become more involved in school by getting sucked up in the group committee and was ultimately voted as the class president. This role required a great deal of discipline as my classmates relied on me for academic support, as I was also responsible for overseeing the group's vice president. As president, it was my responsibility to ensure that everything ran smoothly. This position also provided me with the opportunity to network and make connections, as we had access to various events with professionals and other students organized by the school. As I graduated from HEC, I had numerous opportunities available to me, and I ultimately pursued my dream job of becoming an entrepreneur.

Only study.

I decided to prioritize my studies and sacrificed my social life. I dedicated all of my time to studying, but this caused me to become somewhat depressed. Despite this, I persevered and my hard work paid off greatly because I pulled only straight a's. I achieved the highest GPA in my school and was recipient to get awarded a scholarship. I then pursued a career in finance, as it was the field that most interested me. However, despite achieving financial success, I never truly felt happy with my life.

Balance your schedule.

I decided to balance my schedule between spending time with friends and focusing on my studies. I made sure to attend every party and event that was organized, which allowed me to make many new connections. While I was happy with all of my relationships, I unfortunately did not have good grades because I didn't have a good enough time management. As a result, I was expelled from HEC and had to apply to other universities. However, I faced rejection from all of them. It was then that I decided to become an electrician, and I am still content with the path I have chosen.

Volunteer in Peru.

I decided to volunteer abroad in Peru, specifically in environmental conservation in the Amazon rainforest. This opportunity allowed me to contribute to the preservation of one of the world's most vital ecosystems. Additionally, my understanding of biodiversity and culture have greatly improved. For example, I participated in projects such as reforestation, wildlife monitoring, and community outreach. I am extremely grateful for this invaluable experience, as it helped me connect with nature and make a positive impact on the planet. I realized after this beautiful trip that I wanted to go to HEC Montreal to pursue my studies.

I decided to volunteer abroad in Costa Rica in order to contribute to community development through education and childcare. It was an incredible experience to be able to make a positive impact on children's education and growth. In addition to volunteering, I had the opportunity to explore the beautiful beaches, volcanoes, and rainforests of Costa Rica. I also took the opportunity to learn Spanish, which added even more meaning to my experience as I felt a sense of accomplishment, and it could help me get a premium wage in the future. This trip has inspired me to pursue my studies at HEC Montreal, and I am excited to register for the three language program.
