The choices of an indecisive Social Science student.

Start at the beginning : High School.

Welcome to my journey as I try to find what I love doing and what I want to do in life through my career path options. When I was in my last year of high school I still didn't know what I wanted to do after, but I had to make important decisions that will have a big impact on my life.

Choice 1 : Go to cegep Montmorency in nuclear medicine.

Choice 2 : Go to Ahuntsic College in Social Sciences Commerce.

Highschool

Go to cegep Montmorency in nuclear medicine.

I decide to go to cegep Montmorency in Nuclear medicine because in high School my grades were good enough, and I had a lot of straight A’s. However, I was not prepared enough for the thorough work and time management cegep requires, especially a medicine program. Do I try my best and focus on nuclear medicine or do I change my field of study?

Choice 1 : Focus on my nuclear medicine studies.

Choice 2 : Leave cegep and do a professional real estate course.

Nuclear medicine

Focus on my nuclear medicine studies.

I decide to try my best and focus on my nuclear medicine studies, but it takes all my time and costs me a lot of money because of the complexity of the field. I do not receive any pension or scholarships to help me afford the high costs of my studies, so I have to find a way to make some income. Do I find a job on the side or do I start a small business?

Choice 1 : Find myself a dead-end job on the side.

Choice 2 : Start a small business, so I can afford my studies.

Money

Find myself a dead-end job on the side.

I found myself a little dead-end job at a drugstore and received my On the job training. I was working about 30 hours a week, so I could afford all of my expenses with the wages I was getting. Unfortunately, managing the in’s-and-outs of the job and school was very hard and challenging which caused my grades to drop, and I lost focus at school. I failed most classes on two consecutive semesters and got ejected from my cegep, so I had to start over and say bye to my nuclear medicine career.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Give up school

Start a small business, so I can afford my studies.

I needed money, so I decided I could make money by myself and be my own boss using what I already had, my talent. I knew how to do a lot of hairstyles, braids, twists, locks, and many other styles of black culture. My father volunteered to help me start my business and financed the start. My business page went viral on social media and was successful. I added new services and opened a salon but didn’t go back to paying my studies for nuclear medicine. I guess it was not for me.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Hair salon

Leave cegep and do a professional real estate course.

Cegep was consuming too much of my time, my energy and my motivation, so I decided I didn’t want to go to cegep anymore. I was interested in real estate.

Choice 1 : Enroll in a college’s real estate program

Choice 2 : Take an online real estate course to have more flexibility

Real estate

Enroll in a college’s real estate program.

Unfortunately college’s real estate programs did not work out for me because it had some advantages but also a lot of disadvantages. It was longer and required a lot of things that were not required in the program with the other institutions. So, I quit.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

College

Take an online real estate course to have more flexibility.

I chose to take an online real estate course and successfully managed it with my part-time job. Now I had to specialize.

Choice 1 : Specialize in residential real estate opportunities.

Choice 2 : Explore commercial real estate, property management and real estate investment.

Online real estate course

Specialize in residential real estate opportunities.

Residential real estate was good and really interesting but didn’t catch my eye in the end and was a little bit boring sometimes. I wanted something bigger than just residential, so I stopped doing residential real estate.

Choice 1 : Take an online real estate course to have more flexibility.

Residential real estate

Explore commercial real estate, property management and real estate investment.

I loved this aspect of real estate, and I invested in personal development courses to enhance my communication and negotiation skills. I quickly learned the ropes and was an intern at a firm for some practical experience. Then, I had to take a big step forward and start my career.

Choice 1 : Start working at a real estate firm.

Choice 2 : Start your own real estate company.

Commercial real estate

Start working at a real estate firm.

I was a good addition to the company, and I learned a lot of new that will help me when I launch my own company. Like the brave business woman I am, I got sucked up in the office politics of the company I was working for. I was eventually planning on leaving and starting my own line.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Real estate firm

Start your own real estate company.

Starting my company with all the knowledge I gained throughout my real estate journey was a great decision. Overall the company was doing good but some Social Science Commerce classes and knowledge would have definitely been needed for a more successful and profitable company. That’s why we are going all the way back to the start to choose Social Science Commerce!

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Companies

Go to Ahuntsic College in Social Sciences Commerce.

For a very long time I wanted to study in Social Sciences Commerce and that’s what I chose to do at Ahuntsic College, but now I had to choose if I wanted to do a 3-year technical program and directly go to the work market or a pre University program.

Choice 1 : A technical program in marketing.

Choice 2 : Pre University to explore a little bit of each branch of Social Sciences Commerce.

Social Sciences commerce

A technical program in marketing.

Studied various theories and tactics of marketing like market dynamics, supply and demand, consumer behavior, target market, market equilibrium, market strategies etc. I developed a good analytical mindset for interpreting market trends like digital marketing. But towards the end of my program I started having a lot of personal problems. My 2 cats died, I broke up with my boyfriend, but I was pregnant, got fired from my part- time job, and I went into a big depression. My parents also told me to leave the house. School was not my priority anymore, I did not know what to do.

Choice 1 : Drop school and do something quick and easy money to live.

Choice 2 : Focus and get my marketing degree.

Marketing

Drop school and do something quick and easy money to live.

School was not my focus anymore as I was in distress and not in a good mental state. I was in need of money and looking for a place to stay.

Choice 1 : Start selling drugs

Choice 2 : Work as a stripper at a strip club.

School dropouts

Start selling drugs.

I started selling illegal drugs, and it worked out really great for me. I made a lot of illegal money and did a lot of corruption. I lived a luxurious lifestyle, but I was surrounded by bad people and bad influences. I started taking the drugs too and was implicated in weird trafficking. I had a miscarriage and eventually became a drug addict and died of drug overdose. When my soul was leaving my body it met the genius from Aladdin, and it proposed to bring me back to life if I make better choices, and I agreed and came back to life.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Drug overdose

Work as a stripper at a strip club.

I started stripping at the most popular clubs in Montreal and I could make 5 thousand dollars in a week, I would even get invited in clubs in other cities or for shows for famous artists. I didn’t necessarily like my job, but it was the easiest way out for me. One day, a famous basketball player that I liked visited my club and was interested in me. We got to know each other, and he got me to stop stripping. We fell in love, got married and lived happily ever after.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Stripper

Pre University to explore a little bit of each branch of Social Sciences Commerce.

The advantages of a pre University program is that you get to explore all the branches of your field and specialize in specific fields at University. So, I got to explore and learn about the main branches of Social Sciences Commerce like Economics, microeconomics, marketing, entrepreneurship, business management and Finances. I understood many key concepts of the different branches like SWOT analysis, Keynesian economics, fiscal and monetary policies etc. I also obtained a scholarship to help me with my studies. Now I had to choose what I wanted to specialize in at University.

Choice 1 : Go to HEC University in Economics.

Choice 2 : Go to Concordia University in Business and Commerce strategies.

Social Sciences

Go to HEC University in Economics.

Got accepted at HEC in the Economy Department. I specialized in Durable Economy Development and studied Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics and choose to go for a career in Urban economics. I graduated with a Major of Economics and a minor of Political Science. I became a certified Economy developer and work in firms for low developed countries.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Economic development

Go to Concordia University in Business and Commerce strategies.

I got accepted at Concordia University and I specialized in International Business, Entrepreneurship, and management. It was the best decision I made and the best part of my journey. I learned about strategy management, Human Resources, international marketing, financial accounting and many more interesting things about business. After I graduated a master, I got to attend professional conferences abroad like my dad and I worked with big companies.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.

Concordia University

Focus and get my marketing degree.

I worked hard and stayed strong and graduated in marketing. I graduated but, I was not sure if I wanted to only marketing.

Choice 1 : Internship at a marketing agency.

Choice 2 : Go to Concordia University in Business and Commerce strategies.

Marketing

Internship at a marketing agency.

After graduating my technical program in marketing, before going to the work market I had to do an Internship. So, I was an Intern at a marketing agency and applied the concepts I studied like consumer behavior and market research to develop the marketing strategies. Then, I got hired at same company to be a Market analyst. Then, I got fired and sent to prison because I did fraud and corrupted the company’s money.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning : High School.
