The end of high school and summer vacations were fast approaching, which meant I needed to start thinking about my future. The only thing I was sure about was that I needed to go to CEGEP. But I didn't know what kind of program I wanted to join. All my life, I used to avoid thinking about my future because the idea of growing up used to stress and scare me. But high school has been a long-term exploration where I learned a lot about myself and different things, whether at school or in life. I found myself interested in science, which was a subject I used to hate in primary school because of my teacher. Since I had already done job training once in a clinic as an assistant, and I really liked working with sick people and helping others, I started thinking about becoming a doctor one day. I went to see a guidance counselor and spoke to my parents and friends about my desire to go into Natural Science, and they all advised me not to choose this program. Everyone was advising me to join another program, like my father, and go into law, which was a second option for me. I started feeling undecided about my choice, but I remembered it was my life and my future, so it was better for me to do what I felt like doing, and this is how I ended up in Natural Science.
Choice 1 : Enrolling in the field of Natural Science
Choice 2 : Changing my field

When I first started my semester, I was so stressed because of all the things I heard about the teachers, and about CEGEP in general, I used to hear from my older friends about the enormous pressure and the huge amount of lessons the teachers give us without considering that the student has more than one subject. And guess what? That's exactly what happened. How they are so strict and sever and how complicated the program is. The first month I was doing fine, and I was up to date with the courses. Then, the scientific courses like chemistry, mathematics of science and differential calculus started to become maddening and exhausting. I was overwhelmed with Homework and exams. I had a lot of difficulties with those courses because I am a little slow and teachers were teaching way too fast for me, and I never took the time to go see them during availability hours to get some clarifications. I tried putting aside things that disturbed me while studying and doing time management for me to succeed but nothing worked for me Natural Science just seemed not for me. In high school I used to pull of straight A’s easily without much effort and science seemed genuinely for me, but I was wrong. My marks went down, I failed most of my courses and I started having anxiety. I knew I had to change my program for the better.
Choice 1 : Last year in Paralegel Technology.
The idea of completely changing my field was not easy. I thought a lot before making this decision. I was going to drop some subjects to reduce the pressure, but unfortunately, the first year of my Natural Sciences program was full of challenges. I started to feel mentally broken, and unmotivated to attend my classes. I fell into depression due to the pressure from the teachers, and my family was not there to support me or teach me what my mistakes were. Everyone blamed me, saying that everything I was experiencing was due to my negligence and poor time management. But after a while, I made a decisive decision. I decided to change my life for the better. I started to think, what if my family was right, and I should pursue law! But I didn't want to enter the field of law just because my father is a lawyer; I wanted to enter this field because I genuinely wanted to. I began doing a lot of research about job opportunities, available fields, and the duration of study. However, the situation was not that easy. I began facing other problems. Everyone around me started criticizing me because I was going to change my field, and in doing so, I would lose a year of my life without studying. Some even accused me of being unable to succeed in the field of Natural Sciences, making it impossible for me to succeed in law. Everyone was quick to judge without considering how their words might affect me mentally. But I didn't give up; I entered a Paralegal Technology program and organized my time better. Now, I have completed my second year in this field and am about to finish my studies. However, the choices are not over yet. I now have two options: either continue my studies at university or work with my current degree.
Choice 1 : Continue my studies at university
Choice 2 : Continue with my current degree
In the first semester of the third and final year in the paralegal field, we have to choose a suitable place to do our internship. I have many options, such as a law firm, a notary's office, state offices, the courthouse, and many others. I am fully confident that during this trial period, I will gain a broader insight into my field in a more direct way. I will be practicing most of the things I have studied, so the skills I've already learned will come in handy. Sometimes, I have a bit of fear and anxiety because I need to be fully prepared to complete my job in the best way possible. Maybe, I will sometimes be overwhelmed because I know there will be a lot of information to absorb, and I have to learn the ropes, but this varies depending on where I will complete my internship. This internship will provide essential on-the-job training that will be valuable as I start my career. Getting my foot in the door at a respected firm will be a big move for me. I'll be taking a test drive of my future career.

Choices are endless; life is always full of options. What matters is choosing what is right for us and our lives. There is no easy choice, but we must accept our decisions and work on them. The most important thing is to know ourselves and understand what we want. If one day we find ourselves uncertain about what we want, it's okay; what matters are trying and continuing to search. We should not let anyone decide for us what we want and what we don't. Sometimes it's good to listen to the advice of those around us, but we shouldn't let it influence us too much. Trust your instincts and believe in your ability to make the right choices. By staying trues to ourselves, we can find happiness and fulfillment.
