What next?

I was nearing the end of high school, and I did not know where I should be headed next. Nevertheless, two choices were available to me:

Choice 1 : I apply to Ahuntsic College.

Choice 2 : I apply to Cegep Du Vieux Montreal.

I apply to Ahuntsic College.

The Ahuntsic college provides a program that I am interested in. It is psychology. I decided to apply to this college, and I started getting straight A's. But, the issue is that this school is far from home. Should I change to a school closer to home?

Choice 1 : I change schools.

Choice 2 : Do not change school.

I apply to Cegep Du Vieux Montreal.

I decided to apply to this college. While doing the skills test to get accepted, I did a cursory job with it! They never replied to my messages!

Choice 1 : The end of my artistic career!

I change schools.

I had enough of waking up at 5 in the morning to go to my 8 o clock class! I decided to change to a school that is far closer to my house than Ahuntsic College. I decided to apply at Vanier College.

Choice 1 : They did not have any space for the program I wanted!

I decided to stay.

While it would be great to sleep those extra hours, I like Ahuntsic College. The teachers are great, the program is awesome, I decided to stay and graduate. After 3 years, I graduated from Ahuntsic College, Now I can apply to a university where I can finish my studies Psychology. I have two options:

Choice 1 : Study at Montreal University.

Choice 2 : Study at Laval University in Quebec.

My life at Montreal University.

At Montreal University, I make great contacts with some teachers and friends related to my field of work. I graduated early, and I could finally start my first job in a clinic. Because I just got out of university, I decided to apply as a trainee in two clinics.

Choice 1 : Choose Psychology Clinic MOVEO

Choice 2 : Choose Psychology Center Lajeunesse.

I apply to Laval University in Quebec.

I applied to Laval University in Quebec. Of course, I had to plan this out because my family, my friends, my job, everything is in Montreal. I could find a cheap place to stay in Quebec City and I work extra shifts in a convenience store to make money for my studies and my rent. Finally, I graduate with excellent grades, and I am able to start working as a psychologist. But where should I work?

Choice 1 : I apply to Clinique de Psychologie Québec

Choice 2 : I apply to Centre de Psychologie Québec

The life of a trainee in Psychology Clinic Moveo.

The first day was nerve wracking for me. It was my first experience in this field, so I had to learn the ropes pretty fast. That is why they provided on-the-job training for us new comers. After a month had past, the job started to be drudgery. Also, because I got involved in the office politics. At least the HR lady was nice enough to give me some compensation. I ended up with two choices:

Choice 1 : Leave this job and travel.

Choice 2 : Volunteer abroad to gain more experiences.

My trainees' experiences in this place are amazing.There is not any office drama. The HR guy is so sweet to us trainees. He runs background checks to all the people that that want to fill a vacant position. Also, he explained to us what the compensation package will be if we choose to work there. Should I work here as an official employee?

Choice 1 : Yes! I should totally work here.

Choice 2 : No, I can find something better.

The life of a trainee at Clinique de Psychologie Québec.

This job requires overtime that is not greatly re compensated. We also need a good level of English because we work with a lot of immigrants that do not know how to speak French. While working here, I ended up meeting a lovely lady that talked about her experience working in farms as a temporary worker. That experience interested me and open new doors for me. Should I follow them?

Choice 1 : Yes, follow them.

Choice 2 : No, stay with this job.

My work experiences with the Centre de Psychologie Québec.

While I was working here I noticed some sort of corruption going on in the office. There were threats going on between colleagues. I am thankful that I did not get sucked up in those issues. There were bribes going around between the higher position employees. Unfortunately, those actions were ingrained in the system that it made it really difficult to change. Should I quit this job?

Choice 1 : Yes, quit!

Choice 2 : No, stay!

My first travelling experiences.

I chose to travel because I had enough money to do so and I wanted to gain experiences while travelling the world. I instantly fell in love with Germany and decided to stay there and build up my career as a psychologist.

Choice 1 : Go back to the beginning

What is like to volunteer abroad.

I definitely had to travel. But, what better way than to help others in need. I decided to volunteer abroad. I had enough of my dead-end job. The place where I want to go is in South America. They need help to build a clinic in a town that is far from the big city. There, I learned some invaluable lessons that will surely help me when I go back home to Canada. When I got back to Montreal, there was a vacant position in a job that interacts with people from the same country I was volunteering in. Should I take it?

Choice 1 : Yes! Take it.

Choice 2 : No, find something else.

What is like to be a permanent employee.

It ended up being a drudgery job. I work overtime every week. There are no premium wages. All I have to look forward to is my retirement! Where I can do all the activities that I can not do now because I am always working.

Choice 1 : Restart!

Did I find something better?

I did in fact, find something that is more rewarding than that job at the Psychological Center Lajeunesse. With a little bit of time and effort, I could open my own private clinic where I treat young children that suffer from mental illnesses. I do not mind doing overtime if it is to help young children in need, The pay is good, and I can retire early if I want to. But I still love my job so much, so I am going to keep working until I can not anymore.

Follow your interest.

I decided to follow this new interest that I have thanks to the lady. I learned that every year farms workers from South America came to Canada to work on the fields. Some of these people suffered some injustices because they do not know Canada's laws and rights that an immigrant farms worker should have. I joined an organization that helps farm workers, and now I am feeling fulfilled by helping these people. Also, because I can speak both Sapish and French I earned a premium wage at that organization. Now I am living an amazing life.

Choice 1 : The End.

I stayed at that job.

I decided that it was interesting the life that lady was having, but I did not want to leave my job yet. I decided to stay a couple more years. Suddenly, I suffered from sexual harassment. The perpetrator was a patient of mine. He started with some light flirtation, and it quickly became a misconduct. It went to the point where I dreaded going to work the days I had to see the patient. I ended up quitting that job, and I decided to stay in Quebec to work at a mall.

Choice 1 : Terrible life choice!

I took the offer.

I took the offer and started working there immediately. Because I had experience working with the people from that South American Country, I quickly got promoted to a premium wage. It was the job of my dreams. I got to travel back and forth between Canada and that county that I fell in love with. At that point I was dreading my retirement.

Choice 1 : Quite the life!

What have I done!

I rejected that job offer because I thought That I could find something better. But, I ended up working in a Couche Tard! The job that was offered to me was no longer available. I was destined to work in a Couche Tard until my retirement.

Choice 1 : Terrible Life choices!

I decided to quit.

I quit that horrendous job. Because I did not have another reason to stay in Quebec, I decided to go back to Montreal where I found a job in a public clinic. I was not the ideal job but for now it would do. I will continue to work here in the hopes that I can open up my own private clinic.

Terrible mistake!

I decided to stay in this horrendous job. What did that lead me to? We ended up being sued for all the corruption that was going on in the office. All the employees have a huge dept to pay, and I am included. So, I had to find a job fast. I ended up working in Couche Tard to pay up my dept.
