I was in high school, and it was time to make decisions about our future career. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I went to see the I went to see the guidance counselor who advised me to take psychology to become a criminologist at university.

I ended hating psychology it was way too hard for me.I had to study a lot and learn everything by heart which was very difficult for me to do. I was starting to dislike my program. I had to memorize all the theories of philosophers like Freud and Singer. I was really sad to see that this was my reality.

With a lot of reflection I didn't give up. I was new to school, and I didn't yet know the cote R system, so I was afraid of failing my courses and being expelled from CEGEP, so for me it wasn't a choice to drop out.

With a lot of difficulty I decided to work twice as hard, I no longer had any free time. I couldn't see my friends no more, because I decided to focus on all of my subjects to have the best possible results at the end of the session.

I was tired, my body was telling me to take a break, making me almost a bandit. My first choice was always criminology. I went to see the API to get more information about the university, he told me to get accepted into criminology at the university the r rating is higher than if I was in technical. I was in shock and very frustrated because I was failing a lot of classes despite trying hard. So, I told myself that there was no point in continuing in this program if at university you have to have an R rating of 30 and above, whereas mine was 22.

I am Haitian, dropping out of school is not an option at home. And anyway, leaving school to go do what, I didn't even have a job at school yet. I was going to stay at home all day.

I decided to apply for the winter session for the Delinquency Intervention technique (technique intervention en délinquance), it's a three-year course. It's the same as my old program but the R rating at the university is much lower. And since it’s a technique I could go on the job market after I graduate.

A lot of change has happened in my life. I found a job that pays well. I got notification that my program only starts in the fall. So, for the winter session I didn't know what to do to waste time.

My mother categorically refused to allow me to take an off a session. She advised me to do my basic courses and continue to advance in areas such as math, French, English, philosophy and physical education.

I successfully completed my winter session courses. Summer is over, and we're in August, it's finally time to start my program. I couldn't wait. My journey was initially chaotic, but I managed to find my little happiness and find a program that I like and that I am happy with. What a journey!
