Hi guys! My name is Marie-Jeanne, I am 17, and I just finished High School. Throughout my life, I always knew that I wanted to become a lawyer. I always loved to watch TV shows related to law, and I always loved to argue. Since I just finished High School, I need to choose a CEGEP program for next year. Since I want to become a lawyer, I can either choose to study Social Sciences at CEGEP de Lanaudiere à Terrebonne, or study Paralegal Technology at Ahuntsic College. Social Sciences offer a shorter path with easier classes, while Paralegal Technology offers more field related classes, and will give me more opportunities for my career when I finish my studies. What should I do?
Choice 1 : Go study Social Sciences at CEGEP de Lanaudière à Terrebonne
Choice 2 : Go study Paralegal Technology at Ahuntsic College.
Since this school is super close to my house, I know a lot of people who study there to because I grew up with most of them, or I went to High School with them. However, since I have a lot of friends in my classes, I just want to have fun, and I am not very focused on my studies. My grades are not that good, but I need to improve them if I want to be accepted in Law at University because I need a really high R score to be accepted. What should I do?
Choice 1 : Start focusing on my grades more.
Choice 2 : Continue having fun with my friends instead of studying.
Since I stopped hanging out too often with my friends and put aside a lot of my distractions, my grades got really higher, and I finally got the R score to get accepted in University! However, I got accepted both at Laval University and Montreal University. I don't know which one is the best, but I heard great comments about both. Which Universiy should I go to?
Choice 1 : Go to Laval University.
Choice 2 : Go to Montreal University.
Since I did not put aside any of my distractions and focused more on partying with my friends and going out than studying, I sadly did not have the R score to get accepted at any University in law. I am now stuck with bad grades and with no University to go to next year. I really should've focused on my grades more instead of having fun.
Choice 1 : Go back to CEGEP and focus on my grades again.
I am so happy I chose to study at Laval University! I made many great friends, and I learnt a lot about the different types of law, such as civil law, criminal law, business law, constitutional law, international law, labor law and many other interesting classes. Next year I will now be going to the Bar School of Montreal, where I will learn all the ins-and-outs of the job, and I will have to do an on-the-job-training, also called an OJT, to actually become a real lawyer.
Choice 1 : Go to the Bar School of Montreal.
I didn't really like Montreal University, but I still liked my field of study. I did not make a lot of friends, but it's fine because it allowed me to be more focused on my studies. I am now done with University, and I can now apply to the Bar School of Montreal, to eventually become a real lawyer after.
Choice 1 : Go to the Bar School of Montreal.
I started to study at the Bar School of Montreal, and since I focused really hard on my studies this year, I passed my Bar exam on the first try with a straight A! I can now apply to any law firm of my choice to become a lawyer.
Choice 1 : Apply in a criminal law firm.
Choice 2 : Apply in a civil law firm.
I am now working in a criminal law firm, and I absolutely adore it, because criminal law is my favorite. I learn something different every day, and I think these cases are the most interesting ones ever! I love my job, and I am so grateful for all the choices that I did that led me to where I am now.
Choice 1 : Go back to the begining
I am now working in a civil law firm, but I don't really like it because I think this is kind of boring. Maybe, I should have chosen a different type of law firm to work at.
Choice 1 : Choose a different kind of law firm to work at
I started studying at Ahuntsic College in Paralegal Technology, but I have some difficulties at school because I have a lot of classes, which means that I have a lot of work to get done in so little time. I love my field of study, but I don't know if I should have chosen an easier way to get into University after because I need to have straight A's to be accepted in law, and with the amount of work that I have to do in one session, I don't know if I am able to get the grades that I want.
Choice 1 : Go back to the beggining and choose an easier CEGEP program
Choice 2 : Work really hard to get the grades that I want
I started to work extremely hard at school to get the highest grades as possible in school, and I finally got them, but working that hard for my grades only made me depressive, and I have no motivation left to study in this field of study. I think I need a change, but I don't know if this is the right choice to make.
Choice 1 : Try to get accepted in Police Technology
Choice 2 : Go see my psychologist to seek for help.
I passed all the qualifications to get accepted in Police Technology, and I absolutely love it! I made a lot of great friends, and I am now happier than ever. I think this program was actually really made for me instead of Paralegal Technology. All I have left to do now to become a real police officer is going to Nicolet and complete an internship of fifteen weeks.
Choice 1 : Apply to the National Police School of Quebec at Nicolet
I went to see my psychologist because I did not know what to do with my life anymore. He told me that maybe a break form school would be beneficent for me. I could maybe enjoy a little trip too?
Choice 1 : Booked a trip to Spain with my boyfriend.
Choice 2 : Take a gap year and get a break from school
I got accepted at National Police School of Quebec and finished my internship with a lot of ease! I absolutely love my new job, and I am so happy to have realized that I did not like studying Law after all.
Choice 1 : Go back to the begining
I decided to go on a two weeks trip with my boyfriend, and we enjoyed it a lot! I am now really happier, and I am ready to go back to school. However, I realized that I would maybe be happier if I changed my field of study. Police Technology always seemed super fun to me, so I decided to give it a try and apply in Police Technology at Ahuntsic College.
Choice 1 : Apply in Police Technology at Ahuntsic College
I decided to take a year long break from school. It really helped me to reconnect with myself, and I realized that what I really wanted to do in life was being a police officer. Since my mind is now free, I decided to apply in Police Technology at Ahuntsci College and see how it goes.
