Paralegal-Technology

Start at the beginning.

Two years ago, it was the end of high school for me. I wasn't sure what to do next and also wasn't sure about where am I going to continue my studies. Now, two years later, I'm studying Paralegal Technology at Ahuntsic College to eventually become a Lawyer. In August, I will start my last year of college, and I'm very stressful about where should I go to finish my study. University is a big step in life, and I don't want to do the wrong thing. I have many options, but I'm perplexed of what could be the best choice for me and my future.

Choice 1 : Go to the University of Montreal.

Choice 2 : Go to the University of Ottawa.

Choice 3 : Waiting a year before going to university, so I can accumulate money

Ahuntsic College

I choose to go to the University of Montreal.

It was such an amazing decision to get there. I met a lot of new peoples, and the place made me love even more my studies. I get straight A's in my courses, and I am very proud of it. I'm also close to my family, and I don't have a lot of things to pay because I'm still living in their house. Now, I can study peacefully without being stressful of paying an apartment because if I had chosen to go to the University of Ottawa, it would have cost me $6 000 to study there, per sessions, without being hosted. Also, I would have not seen my family in a while because of the distance. I would have probably questioned myself about the decision I made, and I'm grateful of what I did instead. After three great years, I graduated from University of Montreal. Now, I have to apply in law school that will lead me to a career as a Lawyer or start working as a paralegal.

Choice 1 : Do the Bar of Quebec

Choice 2 : Start working as a paralegal

University of Montreal

I'm going to the Bar of Quebec Law School.

I chose to continue my studies to become a Lawyer because I didn't think I would have liked to work all my life as a Paralegal. In fact, it's a lot of legal research instead of defending clients. My dream was to make the difference in the life of others. It was really hard, but I did it. I didn't pass one of the three exams the first time, but I did it again, and I passed. Now, I have to decided where I want to work to start my career as a Lawyer. I have many options, and I need to choose the one who will make me a great lawyer.

Choice 1 : Apply to the big Law firm, Fasken

Choice 2 : Start working by my own

lawyer suit

I applied to the big Law firm, Fasken.

It has always been my dream to work for Fasken. It's one of the largest law firms in Montreal. I was very stressed when I applied there but everything turns well. I pass the interview, and I had so much in common with the company staff. I decided to go there before working by my own because I have so much to understand before. I thought it would be a great idea to be supervised before. I am now officially a trainee, and I am doing my on-the-job-training so that I can learn the ropes. I worked there for almost three years, and I really loved what I was doing. The nice woman at HR has asked me where I want to work next. Neither position comes with a premium wage but one can make me do a lot more money if I surpass myself. I can't make up my mind. Which should I choose?

Choice 1 : Continue to work for Fasken

Choice 2 : Open my office and start working by my own

Choice 3 : Change for another Law firm who will be able to give me a premium wage

Fasken law firm

I started working by my own.

I choose the second option. Now, I am working on my own in my own office. It requires me overtime, a good knowledge of English, a time management skills, a good knowledge about office politics and a lot more things, Luckily, everything I learned in my college English courses will come in handy while talking with Anglophones. I engaged some paralegal to work for me. They're really smart, but sometimes they're making a lot of dramas. I heard a lot of things that maybe happened in my office, but I'm not sure it's all true. After a difficult day at work filled with drudgery and alienation, one of them asked me for some advice about a situation of sexual harassment by one of my employees. I was so angry that something like that happened, and I asked what she wants me to do with this king of situation.

Choice 1 : meet the perpetrator and tell him that flirtation isn't welcome in my office

Choice 2 : fired him because of his misconduct

law office

Regretting my decision.

I decided to do what she wanted first. I decided to meet the perpetrator and tells him that his misconduct isn't welcome in my office. I gave him a second chance and tells him that if it happens again, he would be fired. Everything started going well after that, but a few weeks later, I noticed many errors in the research he gave me. It started by small things that I was able to correct, but one day, I lost a case because he gave me a jurisprudence who wasn't valid anymore. I was humiliated and my office lost a part of his reputation because of this incident. That was really a bad decision to give him a second chances because if I had fired him, none of this would have happened and my office would be as successful as it was at the beginning.

Choice 1 : Go back to the choice I had to make about him and make a better choice

meet someone
