I am at the end of a big step in my life. I have to choose my next place to study that will give me the best career. I could go to Ahuntsic College in the Prehospital Emergency Care Program. It looks very interesting, and I will finally be able to help people around me. The paramedic job is made for me because I am calm, observer, and it needs from you to be in good shape. Adding to that, you never work at the same place or in the same environment which is very nice. Also, I could go to the Montreal School of Motorized Equipment Trades in the Bodybuiler-Painter program. By completing this course I will be able to work with cars, my absolute passion! Redoing the paint, removing scratches or bumps in the body of the car. Modifying cars too could all be some great option.

I am here! I am happy but the DEC is quite difficult. It is a big program with many subjects treated. I need to have good time management. I have been doing good for most of the session but now, my cursory effort for some exams are stressing me out. I have an important biology exam tomorrow that count for 40%. I have only studied for less than half of the subject, what will I do! By failing this class, my technique will be one year longer than it is supposed too. Should I try to finish my study even if it is already 1 o'clock and not sleep tonight or go to sleep and do my best tomorrow being more energized and concentrated.

Okay. I am here to really do something related to my absolute passion! It is not very well-payed, but I will be happy to do this job. The course is about a year long, so it is perfect. As I am completing the last weeks of my program, I distribute some curriculum vitae and visit some place to put a foot in the door in many workshops or garage that could be interested in having a bodybuilder-painter in their team. There is not so many answers though. It is a rough start because you know, those who get this type of job normally keeps it for a long time so there is not so much work available for a trainee. I had not thought about that, I am a bit disappointed. I manage to get a job but the guys in this shop are not very friendly, the office politics are so annoying and I just work on normal cars like little Hyundai's or Ford's. Not very what I was expecting, adding to the little wage that I touch for all the stuff I do. I think that I regret my choice, but honestly should I get back to school or hope for a new opportunity?

All right here we go! Let's drink some coffee we have a long night ahead of us. It is now 5 o'clock, and I am so exhausted. I am doing a final revision but honestly, nothing gets in my head anymore. I will eat to get some energy and sleep for 30 minutes before going to school. Okay, I have just received my copy and I feel good, I think I can do it. Sadly, I am missing too much sleep time, I am not concentrated, every little movement and sound caught my attention. It has taken me too much time I did not finish the exam. A few weeks later, the grades are distributed. 58%! I am so disappointed, despite my effort I did not pass. I am leaving this program, it is hard and not fair. I could work full time at my current job and wait to find something else, or I could go to the Montreal School of Motorized Equipment Trades and became a bodybuilder-painter like I should have done in the beginning.

At least, those six hours of sleep really helped me out. I feel good, even if I did not study all of what I was supposed to. After my breakfast, I am going to school. I have just received my copy, it will be a hard one, but I will do the best I can. I cannot answer all the question in the perfect way, but I am able to understand them pretty well-so I can try at least some things that I might remember. A few weeks later, the grades are distributed. 62%! Yes! I have passed. Now let's focus on the future, the end of my DEC is close and some options are starting to get more and more accessible. I could go work in remote areas where all the emergency calls are different and special. I could also stay near Montreal or another big city to get most of the action where is a massive density of people.

Here I am. Two years later I still don't know what to do of my life. I don't have great income, I don't have any compensation package, everyone around me is doing a lot better than I am. I am definitely in a dead-end job. I regret my choice. I would love to try again and go back in time.

I officially am a paramedic! Even nicer than that, I am working full time in Amos, a little municipality located at 5 hours of driving up north Mont-Tremblant. I had been told many ins-and-outs before going so far. On-the-job-training have been vital, but now I love my job so much, almost all the calls are special, and I am very lucky to often work directly in the nature.

I officially am a paramedic! What a journey it has been. After having been an intern during few weeks for an internship, I am working in Montreal city and since I have been full time, days are passing like nothing. We are doing like five to six calls a day, sometimes shifts ends up after 16 hours. We are regularly overwhelmed and working overtime. It is harassing physically, but I like it, and I feel like I come in handy. I am helping the surrounding people for real.

New opportunity.

This new opportunity never really came. It is maddening because I have been waiting for more than 10 years now, and I don't love my job anymore. Yes, I work with cars but those are boring cars and even if I keep proving that I am one of the best painters in the area, there is not a single paint shop or something similar that needs a new man in the team. I am disappointed and full of regrets. I can barely plan my retirement because of a lack of money. All of this knowledge is great to have for yourself but not to work and live decently.
