I had just graduated from high school and wasn't sure if I wanted to move forward in my academic journey or to volunteer abroad for some time.

I have been studying Social Science for a year now and my grades are average. I'm not doing as good as I would like to, and I am having mix feelings about the program I am in.

Going Abroad to Volunteer.

I stayed in Costa Rica for six months working in a small village and helping the community. I learned invaluable lessons and found a purpose in helping others. During my stay, I met someone, and I am not sure if I want to come back to Montreal just now.

Not Being in School.

I have been working as a hairdresser since I quit school. I make great money and saved plenty enough to move out of my parent's house. Although I am ready to fly on my own, I sometimes apprehend going back to school because hair dressing is kind of a dead-end job.

Efforts Are Rewarding.

I studied hard and it finally paid off. I got my Social Science diploma, and it was now time for me to apply to universities. I wasn't sure about which career path to choose, so I applied in two different programs at different universities.

Choice 2 : Study criminology at Laval University in Quebec.

Life in Costa Rica.

My last year in Costa Rica was incredible. I got to know this stranger better, and he quickly became my lover. Life seemed slowed down and peaceful over here. My partner wanted us to invest in a house on a beach, but a part of me wants to explore there rest of the world. I have been questioning myself a lot lately regarding my future plans.

In My City.

Being back in Montreal was refreshing. I got more implicated in community services and volunteering organization. I have found a passion in helping the ones in need and find it really rewarding. I was thinking about volunteering in a senior's residence, but I also wanted to create my own organization to help raise awareness on sexual harassment in work environments.

A New Start in Social Science.

Studying and attending classes got easier than it used to be. I went back to Ahuntsic College, and I am currently completing my last semester in the Social Science program.

Owning a Beauty Salon.

A couple of months ago, I opened a beauty salon in Montreal. I have since been working really hard to build a reputation and a clientele. I was scared to not go back to school as everyone told me my company would most likely be a failure, but this adventure has thought me to believe in myself and to not take too much in consideration what others say and think.

I became a lawyer when I was 25 years old, after doing an internship at a cabinet that ended up wanting me as their employee. The journey wasn't perfect, but I have learned a lot about myself and gained a lot of confidence in doing my job.

I graduated with a Criminology bachelor from university in 2024. I worked for thirty-five years in the federal prison system, and I decided to retire a year ago. During those years I accumulated a pension, and I can not wait to enjoy my retirement under the sun.

Exploring the world has been the greatest experience of my life. Looking back on my decision ten years later, I have no regrets. Even thought I was overwhelmed by times it forged the person I am today, and I get to tell the coolest stories to my grand kids.

I had three beautiful kids with the man I met in Costa Rica almost twenty years ago. I was dreading him leaving me to take care of them by myself, and it happened. We have now been living in Montreal for twelve years, and it's been really great to be back home.

Changing Lives.

Volunteering with the elders has helped me realize how growing old can be a beautiful or a very lonely experience. I enjoyed spending time with them, but it was mentally hard to go through challenges without their family's support.

Safe and Productive.

I have now been in twenty-two different companies to educate the employees about sexual harassment. Differing flirtation from unwanted attention is the key to avoid any sexual misconduct in a workplace. I enjoy raising awareness and feel full-field by my mission.
