The end of college.

It was the end of college. I wasn’t sure what to do next. Nevertheless, two choices were available to me.

Choice 1 : Finish the year strong and do my homework.

Choice 2 : Play more video games and forget about my homework.

I decided to put aside my gaming controller and start getting to work. This semester being my last, I knew I had to be pulling off straight A’s during the entire semester, or I wouldn't have the grade required to get in my dream university. The first weeks were the hardest since I had to change old habits that followed me during many years such as procrastinating. However, by the end of the semester, thanks to my good time management, my once cursory work was now a much better results of my perseverance. Fortunately, the efforts I made were enough and my admission to McGill was accepted, leaving me with a pleasant feeling.

Choice 1 : Second year of university.

I skipped homework for video game daily. As homework kept piling up, I kept paying video games and was glued to my screen. Procrastination became routine, and my grades dropped a lot. Ignoring my parents and teachers warnings, I continued gaming until the end of the semester. But reality hit when McGill denied my application. I regretted my decision as I understood that it was too late. I had to pay the consequences of my action, showing me the price of putting gaming first. I had to go to UQAM instead since the required grades were not as high as McGill's. I was unhappy with my courses at UQAM, so I dropped out of school and work for my uncle in construction.

Second year of university.

After a great year at McGill in the Finance program I had to make a choice, either join a group of students and go abroad to volunteer or commence my OTJ to start working as soon as possible.

Choice 1 : Start my OTJ.

Choice 2 : Volunteer abroad.

I commenced my OJT alongside other students last month since then my trainees have taught me the ins and outs of my field of work so far I've been enjoying my training at one of the mains reasons being gone earning my own weight while learning however I've been suspicious, and my trainee have been teaching me with a certain bias which could pose some drawbacks once I start working on my own before my on-the-job-training, and I will make sure to ask other employees some question about my trainees' instruction to ensure no drop box from their biases biases instructions will affect the quality of my work for now I will keep, and drink my weekly wage with those wages I bought my own apartment next to my workplace I also discovered many places to hang out after work, and made many new friends I enjoyed my on-the-job-training, and I am thankful to the person who provided me with a great training during this past month. However, my employer was not impress by work, and said that I had a lack of working experience. He decided to not hire after I finish school, so I am still looking for a job.

Volunteer abroad.

I went to volunteer in another country. At first, I felt very skeptical since volunteering did not bring any wage at all. However, the advantage I got from going abroad with other volunteers was invaluable. The skills I learned during those many months of helping were far more interesting than the disadvantages from working a dead-end job. Thanks to my volunteering trip, I have never felt so useful, I’ve been giving back to my community. This feeling helped me fall asleep at night with a feeling of accomplishment. I took a flight back home last month, went home and applied for an internship from a company showed interest in my volunteering trip. This internship will give the premium wage I have always wanted and dreamed for.

The beginning of being a financial analyst.

After a few weeks working at the bank that hired me, I get sucked up in some office politics I never wanted to be parting of. The office was separated in many groups. Most of these group had secret alliance against a certain group. They used many ways to appear as the better group. They hindered the other employees who were not part of their group for their own good. They also undermined the other employee by leaking personal information that had nothing to do with the workplace. Finally, they withheld crucial information from each other. This was the most common method, and it ruined productivity in the office by a lot. Those 3 methods which are hindering, withholding and undermining should never be part in a workplace and are the main reasons no one trusted each other.

Choice 1 : Keep working at the office.

Choice 2 : Quit my job and work someplace else.

I kept working at the same place but after a few months I couldn't take it anymore. I snapped at a colleague and got fired immediately. My boss put a bad word about to other financial companies and, it is really hard to find a new place to work at. This was the wrong decision, I should have listened to my peers who told me long ago that working in a toxic workplace always ends in a bad way.

The office was a really toxic place to work at and this is why I decided to quit. I found a new job where the vibe is way better. This was the best decision ever. All the choices from my past led me to this beautiful life I have right now, and I'm thankful of all the opportunities that were given to me.
