Cegep Applications.

After high school, I have the choice to go to cegep or to take a year off to save up some money to be able to pay for my studies. Eventually, I want to continue my studies at university in a Law program. Taking a year off will help me save up money and not stress about the school fees, but I will be a year late with my studies. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Take a year off to save some money.

Choice 2 : Go to Cegep.

I decided to take a year off to save money, but I don't know where to work. I would love to work in a law firm to build experience since I want to apply in Law at university, but I don't know anything about this field, so I am thinking of applying in a dead-end job for now, if I don't work in a Law firm.

Choice 1 : Work at McDonald's.

Choice 2 : Work at a Law firm.

Go to Cegep.

Regardless of my financial situation, I thought the best thing to do is to start Cegep right away. I want to apply at Ahuntsic College, but I don't know in which program yet. Either, I apply in Paralegal Technology which will allow me to gain in-depth knowledge and experience in the Law department, or I sign up in Social Science which is only two years, but I don't learn anything related to my future job.

Choice 1 : Apply to the Paralegal Technology program.

Choice 2 : Apply to the Social Science program.

Work at McDonald's.

When I had my OJT, I learned about all the ins-and-outs about the company from a trainee's point of view. I was paid minimum wage, but I was not complaining since I need the money. This was the drawback I had noticed because my last job paid a lot more, but I loved the work environment. I learned a lot of thanks to the OJT. Without this training I was not going to be able to manage the job. Although there was some bias and the fact that the wages were low, I knew that this job would teach me lots of skills that I could apply in other situations or other jobs. Since the wage is so low, and I need to save as much money as possible, should I quit the job or hang in there?

Choice 1 : Quit my McDonald's job.

Choice 2 : Continue working at McDonald's.

Work at a Law firm.

I chose the internship because I knew that it was the best opportunity for the job I want to do later in life. Since it is related to my future field of study, it allows me to have a foot in the door experience of this work was overwhelmed at first, but, I learned the ropes and gained valuable on-the-job training experience thanks to the internship. It came in handy to have that foot in the door, that allowed me to gain experience, and it helped me see if I like this field of work. Internships are good ways to get hands-on experience. However, the past few weeks my colleague has been touching my leg in an inappropriate way. I don't want to ruin this experience so should I go tell my boss or no?

Choice 1 : Tell my boss.

Choice 2 : Don't tell my boss.

Apply to the Paralegal Technology program.

I applied to the Paralegal program because I know that is what will benefit me the most. The only problem is that I live far away from the College and I would need to live in a dorm, but I want to live with my family because they mean the world to me. Should I live in a dorm or stay with my parents?

Choice 1 : Live in a dorm.

Choice 2 : Stay with my family.

Apply to the Social Science program.

I decided to apply in this program because it's only two years instead of three, and I can get my degree as fast as possible. Now, I really need to go buy my school book, but I don't want to feel left out by my new friends. Should I stay with them to look cool or should I be a good student, and buy my books.

Tell my boss.

I decided to tell my boss because sexual harassment is a massive problem nowadays days, and it needs to be talked about. Flirtation is a thing that might have happened many times in everybody’s life, although it has its limits. It's necessary to keep in mind that the perpetrators of sexual harassment are the bad people, not the recipients. It’s crucial to stand up against this misconduct and create a society that deters this kind of act. Anybody should dread going to school because of this problem. It’s important to talk about this type of situation. It needs to be discussed and people who struggled with this problem needed to get the necessary help. After I told my boss, he decided to fire me because he didn't believe me because I'm a new employee. I decided to accept and leave and go work at McDonald's.

Don't tell my boss.

I decided not to tell my boss but talk with human resources. The Human Resources Department handle many tasks related to employees. They hire people, help the company choose salaries and many more. It their responsibility to make sure that employees received equal compensation packages, including salaries and benefits. They also handle leaves of absence and vacations, making sure that everything was properly documented. Also, they do the leg work for employee benefits and pensions. It's their job to make sure the colleague that's harassing me gets punished and fired. Now that they know about my case, I need to leave this toxic environment because I don't support toxic behavior.

I decided to keep the job because I need the money, but every day I dread going to work because it's so boring, and I hate my colleagues because they are all old men. I'm thinking should I go to Cegep and have a better career or work in a Law firm?

I know I need to quit my job to be able to go to Cegep and create a great career for myself.

Live in a dorm.

The first weeks were fine until the midterms. Most of the people would party every night, which made a lot of noise throughout the night. My grades were dropping, and I could not continue like this. At the end of the semester, even though living closer to the school is a better option, I will go back and live with my parents.

I decided to stay with my family because I love them so much, and I can't imagine living without them. Now that I have to pay lots of money for my gas I need to find a job.

I decided to stay with my friends but my grades are so low that I need to change my program because the school kicked me out.

Buy my books.

Not going with my friends made me realise that I always need to put school first even if having friends can entertain me. Now that I have my books, I can start my semester on the right track, but the price of my books were so expensive. I absolutely need a job, but with my many classes I can't work full time, so I decided to go work at McDonald's.
