Hello, my name is Thalia. I am currently studying Social Sciences at Cegep Ahuntsic, and I will graduate this summer after completing two summer classes: physical education and the final level of French (4). My experience at Cegep has been a roller coaster. I have been there for almost five years, which might seem unusual for a two-year program. You're probably wondering why it took me so long to finish. In fact, I changed programs during the pandemic. I was in my second session of Language and Communication when I decided to switch to Social Sciences. I felt lost after high school and didn't know what to do with my life. I was very demotivated until I started searching. It took me a while to figure out what to do next. The principal challenge that I had face during my career searching, was that I was very disinterested in almost everything. I didn't want to study something traditional and I was searching for something that could allow me to travel a lot or would give me the opportunity to live in another country. That's how I found Public Relations. Many of you are probably wondering, what does a PR do? In this screencast, I will explain everything that you need to know.

PR, short for Public Relations, is a management, leadership, and communication function of a permanent nature. Through PR, a public or private organization aims to establish, maintain, and promote relationships of trust based on knowledge and mutual understanding between that organization and its internal and external audiences. This includes considering their rights, needs, and attitudes, all in accordance with the public interest. It also means that you will probably have to move a lot, and you could travel to anywhere, and work for anyone! That means you will need to have a good level of English.

I have been trying to improve my presence on social media because it's very important in this field. I'm not the best Instagrammer or Snapchatter, but I'm really trying to be as transparent as possible on my social media. I am only at the beginning hopefully, in September, I will officially start my career, but I still have a lot of work to do, especially with English because I make a lot of mistakes in writing and talking.
