Hello. My name is Edwin Supreme, and I am currently a student in Paralegal Technology at the College Ahuntsic. This is my fourth session, and I really like it. For those who are unfamiliar with the field, a paralegal is a professional who works in law firms, banks or even a court. My responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, interviewing people and a lot more. In our field of study, strong writing skills in both English and French are crucial as we will be required to communicate with clients and our superiors through emails. Personally, my writing in English is decent, but I have to improve more. Recently my teacher came across a website called the Virtual Writing Tutor which has been fantastic for me to improve my writing and reduce my mistakes. This is why today, I will show you this tool, and how to use it correctly.
In everyday life, writing an email without any errors is a sign of professionalism because it demonstrates attention to detail and precision in communication. However, mastering this skill can be challenging, especially for non-native English speakers who are not used to writing in English, and may struggle with grammar and other mistakes. In my field of study, even for a simple message, regarding a forgotten detail or appointment time, is it important to ensure that it is clear for both of the client and myself. This is why having this tool can be beneficial in all cases and can also help for a better improvement and learning in English.
To access the website, First you have to open your browser. After, go to the address bar and type this URL https://virtualwritingtutor.com/ and hit enter. It will show you a bunch of links. Click into the first one. In the top left corner you can see the logo of the web page. In the middle of the screen you can see the area where you can write your text and on top of that you can see all the options On the navigation menu.
For example, if I want to write a message to a client about a delay:
After clicking on ''check grammar'' wait 2-3 seconds for the programs to identify your errors. To make corrections, click on the scroll bar and scroll down. Once you have finished making all of your corrections, you can scroll back up and click on ''improve writing''
In conclusion, if you encounter any issues with a sentence and need to make corrections, you now know how to make corrections and where to go and click. I hope that this video has been helpful in improving your writing.
goodbye.
