Even after finding it, we still need as much information as possible to present the nonprofit organization to our clients.

The website that I will show you is 211. In your search bar, type 211 Montreal if you are in the urban agglomeration of Montreal, or 211 Quebec if you are anywhere else in the region of Quebec. Once you are on the website, there are three ways that you can look for a nonprofit organization. The first way is to search by name or keyword. The second way is to search by a topic. The third way is to click on directories, then click on the administrative region of your choice. You can then choose the city or the territory, and then select the topic.

Let's say that you have a 17-year-old boy who ran away from his parents' house, and is looking for a safe place to sleep. He lives in Montreal. So, you go on the 211 Montreal, and let's search by a topic. Scroll down a little bit until you see "find services by topic". We will click on the "homelessness" icon. The sub-categories then appear. Let's click on youth shelters since he is a minor looking for a place to sleep. We then enter the city, which is, in his case, Montreal. You then click on search, and now you see that there are 3 youth shelters in Montreal. When you click on the name of the nonprofit organization, you have all the information necessary to inform your client. Before doing that, make sure that the organization is right for your client by looking at the services, the eligibility, the fees, the coverage area, and the languages offered.
