Hi everybody, my name is Jérémy Dufort, I have been studying for the past two years in Natural Science at the cegep of Saint-Hyacinthe. A lawyer is someone who helps people solve there problem in a legal way. If you didn't know, there's a lot of different law and rules to respect. It can be hard for some people to remember all of them. I know a website that can help you solve this problem. This video will explain how to solve the problem and how to use the website. Stay with me, and I will explain step-by-step how to use the website.
In law, you'll have to debate on a lot of different subject, and each situation will be different. Imagine if the person you call to help to solve your problem cannot help you because he forgot a law or a rule. This isn't professional. He need some resources, and he can find it on the internet. While I was looking for information, I found a website including all the law that exists and, all the structure in Canada. After I found this website, it was imperative that I show you how it works
If you need information in the criminal code or on bankruptcy, you have all this information on the website.
I will guide you, and show you how this website works. That's the solution to your problem
It's easy to access the website. First, make sure that your browser is open, than open a new tab. After, click on the address bar and write CanLII.
At the top of the screen, you'll see the logo and the navigation menu. At the bottom of the screen in the middle, you'll see other institutions of law in Canada. If you want more information about the website go to the bottom of the screen, and they have many other links of the services they offer.
Let's say you have a problem finding information about bankruptcy, and all the information you need for being legal.What does Bankruptcy mean? Bankruptcy is the state of being declared in law unable to pay outstanding debts. You have to follow some rules. Here's the solution. On Canlii, click on the navigation menu or the text area at the top of the screen in the middle, and write the information you need. Here, we need information about bankruptcy. Wait for a few second, and after, you'll see many links where the word bankruptcy appear. You can scroll down to see every possibility that you have. Click on the link that you think it will be useful. You'll see everything we need for example some definitions and general rules. I'll give you another example. Click on barrow back in the top left corner of the screen. Now, you want information on the criminal code. Again, click on the navigation menu or the text area, and write what you are looking for. Repeat the exact same thing as you did previously. Here is your solution.
