Hello to my subscribers and new people. It's my pleasure to introduce myself for those who don't know who am I. I am Maxime Portmann, a Natural Science student. I have been studying in this program for the past two years. I have a dedication and a passion for learning about the natural world. This passion has led me to try to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
In this program, I’ve been upgrading my knowledge and skills in the natural sciences, with a particular focus on anatomy and physiology of the animal body. For my listeners, if you are not accustomed to this program, I'll explain it to you quickly. Basically, it is a way for post-secondary students to gain some advanced and basics information on anatomy, chemistry or physics. As someone who aspires to be a veterinarian, I understand the importance of a strong foundation in these subjects.
However, as many students in veterinary schools and graduated vets can attest, anatomy can be a challenging part when it comes to learning physiology. The complex structures and functions of the animal body can be overwhelming, and students must navigate a vast amount of information to gain a deep understanding of the subject. Also, it could be difficult to have a proper diagnosis for an animal if the veterinarian can’t remember all the functions and the part of the dog physiology. With this challenge, I remain committed to my studies and my future career. That’s why I found a site for those students in veterinary medicine and for the graduated veterinary who seems to struggle a little bit with physiology and proper diagnosis. With this site, I am determined to help you become a skilled and knowledgeable veterinarian who can make a positive impact on the lives of animals and their owners.
So, let’s start with the explanation of the website. First you must open your browser. Type this URL into the address bar and hit enter. Make sure to maximize your screen by clicking on the green button on the top left of the page. If you are not sure if you are on the good website, just check the logo which is an orange I, in the middle of the presentation page when you enter the website.
The website has different sections that allows you to explore the anatomy of different species of animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, cows, and more. Each section has a list of anatomical structures. For example, if you go on the navigation menu in the top center of the page, and click in the top right of the section named dental, you can see that there are plenty of options. We could click on example 1 in the feline section, and it would take us to image of dental anatomy of the cat. After that, we could click on the icon « view 3 » and it would take us to another page. In this page we could use the navigation menu and click on « P3 Roots » and it would indicate where this part is on the image. After, when we would be finished, we could close the page with the close button on the tab just like that. Also, if we click on the back arrow in the top left of the page, we could see by using the scroll bar the instructions of the website. This website also featured other anatomy parts like the equine skull. For those special parts, if you want to check them, just click on the right animal section in the navigation menu.
In addition to the images, the website also provides information about each structure, including its function, location, and clinical relevance. You can also find interactive quizzes and case studies to test your knowledge and apply what you have learned. Those other sections are on the navigation menu in the top center of the page
Now that you have learned every little part of this website and all the features that are included in this site, I am going to resolve this big challenge which is learning the anatomy of the animal body. Now imagine that you have an exam in 3 days on the equine anatomy. I think everybody in your situation could understand the stress and the anxiety you could experience by learning all those difficult and precise parts in the forelimb equine anatomy. The perfect solution could be to write the URL of this site in your search bar and access to the equine section anatomy. With that, you could click on all the photos and learn them. If you have a memory that works with images, then you could just learn all those parts with those pictures. Also, those pictures are interactive, so it is less complicated to deal with the image you’re using. With all this being said, I think for the veterinary student part of my channel, the challenge must be resolved for you guys.
So now lets get ready for the professional veterinary challenge part. Imagine that you are dealing with a dog that is experiencing vomiting and that refuse to eat for several days. With that being said, you take the opportunity to make a radiography. For my non-veterinary people looking at my channel, a radiography is a process or occupation of taking radio graphs to assist in medical examinations. Those types of practice help us to see inside the animal body. So after taking the radiography, you’re not quite sure what seems to be the problem, and you can’t really have a normal abdomen dog body image to compare. In this case this is when this website enters the game. You just log on the website that is in the description, put URL in the search bar and then click on the section of the dog anatomy and go to the abdomen view. With those pictures, you can now compare your radiography to a cleaner and normal one. So now, you could make your diagnosis easily and maybe announce to the dog owner that his dog experiencing an intestinal occlusion per example. For those of you guys that don't know what is an intestinal occlusion, it is when the stomach or intestines of a dog are partially or completely blocked.
To conclude, I hope my website helped you to surpass this challenge that is one of the complicated parts of being a student or a graduated veterinary.
