Hi everyone, I would like to welcome you to my screen cast, my name is Victoria, and I am currently studying Social Science in order to go in psychology in university. I have now been studying for two years. To become a psychologist, you have to take courses till you get to the doctorate witch is pretty hard. Someone in my program might encounter difficulties with words and definitions because in psychology there are a lot of specific terms that we don't use daily. For example, the name of certain diseases or the name of certain behavior. As psychologists, we have to be able to formulate the concept in easy words so our patient will not have any difficulties understanding. That's why it is extremely important to know the proper definition of terms.
To help you with this problem, I have a great website that might actually hep you. It is called The Virtual Writing Tutor and if you look deeper into the website, there is a glossary creator, to learn field-related terms, their translations and pronunciation. If you type on the address bar the website, this should come to you.You have the possibility to login in and create an account. A navigation menu will appear, and you will click on Writing Tools, and after, click on Glossary Creator.
Once you have selected the Glossary Creator, you will see a text area where you can write the title of your glossary and click new glossary. Now you just have to follow the instructions. The first step is to add your topic and click save. Write a small introduction and proceed to write the new term you want to define.
1- Identify the part of speech.
2- You can add an audio file by clicking on the speaker and hear it, and save it.
3- You can also add a definition. Click on go to have a definition on google, then copy and paste it. Don't forget to put it in sentence case and save it.
4- You can add a translation, click Go, copy, paste, and save.
5- Furthermore, you can add a sentence to demonstrate the use of the word. In the navigation menu, use the scroll bar to select Academic General. Type in the word you are looking for and click on go. Here is one, click on the word to see the context and copy paste.
6- Finally, you can add a picture from Wikimedia. Here is an icon you can use, click on more details, use this file, copy the File URL and paste it. Here you can put a description of the picture. A preview appears on the right.
7- You can put as many terms as you want. Here is an example of a glossary I made for psychology. You can use your glossary to practice for example, there is the option Quiz, Card Games and publish if you desire.
