Welcome everyone! My name is Juliette Gagné, and I have got a great video for you about a useful grammar checker website. At the moment, I am studying Social Science, and I plan to study Psychology at university. After university, I would like to be a psychologist in order to help people with all the knowledge that I will have acquired during my studies.
Therefore, Psychology is a very competitive program. So, it is very important to have good grades to stand out. There are many obstacles to overcome in Psychology. This field requires long years of study with a lot of effort.
I know I'm not an expert, but in my two years of being a student at Ahuntsic College, I already have learned a lot of tips and tricks in order to have almost perfect scores in all of my courses.
For example, last semester, my average score for all of my courses was 94%.
Today, my plan is to show you a very useful online grammar checker website. After you'll acknowledge this website, you'll be able to maximize your grades, especially for your writing.
Stay right there.
You'll be amazed by how this website is easy to use!
For those of you who didn't know, the Psychology field includes a lot of research, especially during the PhD. Research can be a bit challenging for someone whose second language is English because a lot of research in psychology are done in the United States. So, when it comes about reading trustworthy scientific articles about psychology for your research, it will mostly be in English. Therefore, there are many complicated psychological terms that you may face when reading scientific books and articles. You may not be able to understand them, or to pronounce them.
So, your comprehension of the subject might be wrong, you might have grammar errors when it comes to your writing about the research, and you might pronounce a word incorrectly when you have to do an oral presentation.
But don't worry, those things won't happen if you use the website that I mentioned earlier. In the next few minutes, I'll show you how to use it correctly.
The website in question is Virtual Writing Tutor. First, open your browser and type "virtualwritingtutor.com" into the address bar and hit enter. You will then see this page. If not, try to check if you made errors while typing the address into the address bar.
In the top left corner of the screen, there is the logo of the website.
Under the logo, at the top of the screen in the middle, there is the navigation menu
In the middle of the screen, there is the text area, where you can write whatever you want. Then, just below the text area, there are check boxes to verify your grammar, your punctuation, your writing and your vocabulary.
If we go back at the navigation menu, you can click on "writing tools" to either create a glossary, make a screencast, make an outline for your essay and more.
In the top right corner of the screen, there are some icons if you want to share the website on any social media.
If you scroll down, there is a brief description for each button or options offered by the website
Now, here is where you would have to go to find the solution to the problem I mentioned earlier. For example, if you had to write a thesis based on the scientific method about schizophrenia, you would have to look for trustworthy sources to write a hypothesis. Since the majority of the reliable sources in Psychology are in English, you would have to check each useful terms that are hard to pronounce, hard to spell and hard to write. For example, the term "Schizoaffective Disorder" could be hard to pronounce. If you click on this button right here in the text area, it pronounces the word for you! Another example is with the term "neurotransmiters". If you click on the "check grammar" checkbox, it directly says that it is not written correctly. As you can see here, the correct form of this term is "neurotransmitters". Finally, if you write a text like this one right here, you can verify your punctuation, the word count and target structures.
Finally, if you study or plan to study in Psychology, that is how you can solve many writing and reading problems in English. At the beginning, I said that I would show you how to find a solution for a particular problem that you could face while studying in Psychology, and I did it using the website Virtual Writing Tutor.
I hope that this screencast was useful to you or will be useful in the future! Do not hesitate to click on "subscribe" and to share this video with your friends and family! I hope you liked it, thanks for watching!
