Hi, my name is Alexis Mercier and I’m currently studying Police Technology at Ahuntsic College. I’ve been in this program for about a year. This program is all about learning and practising most aspects of the job of a police officer throughout different kinds of courses like Criminal Justice, Criminology, Road Safety Code, etc. After I graduate from Quebec National Police Academy, I want to work in the Quebec City Police Department. Some of the citizens who live there don’t speak French. So sometimes, I’ll need to use my English skills. For example, if I am writing police reports. More often than not, a police officer will need to write a report after most of his interventions. It is important that my reports are clean because it can be used by lawyers and judges in court either as a defence tool in case a police intervention went south or as proof against criminals. If you make too many grammar mistakes in your report, it could give you a bad reputation. If you are in the same kind of situation, it can be stressful. But don’t worry, there's a simple solution. I’ll help you by showing you a useful website that will help future police officers to solve this problem and get rid of those pesky grammar mistakes.

First, open your browser and create a new tab. Type VirtualWritingTutor.com in the address bar. If you typed the address correctly, you should see in the top left corner of your screen, the logo of the site and in the top right corner of the screen, several icons to share the site on any social media.
In the middle of the screen is the text area. In the bottom right corner of the text area are several tools at your disposal like a check spelling button that underline with a red line your spelling mistakes, or a text-to-speech button that read your text and show you the right pronunciations. At the top of the screen in the middle, right under the navigation menu are some blue boxes who also acte as tools to help you correct your text. Finally, if you scroll down the page, you’ll see many tips on how each tool in the blue boxes, works.
Now I’ll show you how to use the tools provided by this website to find and correct all the grammar mistakes. First, copy your report into the text area. For the sake of the video, I’ll take a small part of a report that I’ve made a few days ago and copy it into the text area. You can already see that there are many words underlined in red. Let’s see if they’re grammar mistakes by clicking on the Check grammar box between the word count and the score essay boxes. As you can see, the site will automatically find the grammar mistakes. It’ll also automatically scroll down the page to show you how many mistakes you have in your report, where your mistakes are, some feedback about your mistakes and some suggestions on how to correct them. As you can see, I have 3 errors in my report. For each error, I can see the feedback, the error type and the suggestion to correct the mistake. Once you’ve corrected all of your mistakes, you can click again on the check grammar box to see if there are any mistakes left. As you can see, there’s none left on my report. I'm sure now that my report is clean and grammar mistakes free.
