Hi everyone, my name is Félix-Antoine. For those of you who don't know it yet, I'm studying in Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention. This course explain to us the basic of dealing with people with a certain kind of issues.
During my class, I spend time worrying that our client, as we like to call people under our supervision, may feel that we can't understand is state. Those people have often been marginalised trough western society, so to make sure they feel safe and understood, it is imperative that I can address my client in their mother tongue. While I could say that I feel confident to be writing in English, I'm not so much proud of my spoken English. A part of it because I don't like the way that I pronounce certain word. The second part of it because I don't like how few word and expression I knew. I wish I knew more specific word.
To help me in my task in English I use the Virtual writing tutor. To access this site you need to open browser and type : https://virtualwritingtutor.com/. Once you're in, you can firstly make yourself familiar with the navigation menu. Under it you will see the first tool of the website, in the text area you can type speak or copy-paste text and apply grammar check. If you scroll down on the main page, you can read a text by mister Walker creator of this site.
For sure, the VWT provide multiple tools and I'm sure everyone of you, viewers, can find something for their need. But for me, it's firstly about the glossary tool. You can find it in the navigation menu under the scrolling menu name: Writing tool. In here you can find my glossary, where you can find some of the language I use. For example, the VWT can help me pronounce unknown word with the help of the read button. To take in account new expression I can always return to my glossary to complete it with new vocabulary. To demonstrate I could add the word "plea" inside my glossary.
So, if your having trouble finding your word in a talk, I'm sure that the VWT can and will help you in the future.
