How can I improve my pronunciation?

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Rachele, and I am a Prehospital Emergency Care student. If you happen to be in the same program, or any other program, I think you will find this video pretty interesting.

I have been studying English since I was about 5 years old, but I wouldn't count myself as a bilingual person. Additionally, medical terms are not often studied at school. As medical professional, you might need to make sure you correctly pronounce medical terms in an interview with a patient.

My goal with this video is to show you a way to improve your pronunciation. So, I am going to demonstrate the text-to-speech feature for common medical terms you might don't know how to pronounce.

The Problem

The Quest

First, open your browser. Type this URL into the address bar and hit enter. If you typed the URL correctly, you will see this page.

At the top of the screen, you will see a logo and the navigation menu. The Virtual Writing Tutor offers a lot of tools. You can see... Today we will focus on the home page because the tool I want to show you is there. You can see a rectangle where it is written "Type, speak or copy-past your text here. It offers you... That is the place where you can write the word you want to check the pronunciation of. Also, before checking the pronunciation, you can check the grammar of the word.

The Solution

You can now write the word you want to know the pronunciation of in the rectangle. Here is an example with the word cardiac monitoring. When you are done, you just have to click on the text-to-speak icon. Here are some more examples.

The Conclusion

So, if you are in the Prehospital Emergency Care program or any other program, that's how you can check how to pronounce a word.

I hope that was useful to you and that it will help you to improve your pronunciation!
