Hi and welcome. My name is David Joussemet-Beaudoin, but you can just just call me David. I am studying in Cégep Ahuntsic and the program I'm in is called International Studies and is part of Social Sciences. In the future, I will certainly be in a program called Communication and Politics, but I don't know yet if it's going to be at the UdeM or Uqam.

It is sure that absolutely nobody wishes to make writing mistakes in his career.

And it is also evident by looking at my sometimes very low grades that I have made mistakes in my many years in school.

I usually do pretty good in school, I have the chance to be in a program that I have a lot of interest in.

Except from passing this class, my goal by making this video is to be sure that none of you viewers do not know how to use the VWT.

All you will have to do is to follow my instructions.

None of you are ready for what is coming.

It is common for people in Social Sciences to have to write very long texts and essays. With those tasks comes a probability of doing mistakes while writing.

Those errors, if not corrected, can easily have a negative impact on your grade, even if the work itself is fine. It might be even possible that writing mistakes could make you fail your evaluation. This has happened to a lot of people because they neglect the importance of making mistakes, and do not correct their essays properly.

If you do 10 mistakes, and each one makes you loose one percent of your final grade, those 10% might put you into trouble. Loosing that percentage of your final grade could cost you a lot.

Thankfully, there are tools, such as the VWT that can help you avoid such situation, and I am here to show you how to use it.

To begin with, you need to access the website of the Virtual Writing Tutor. It is not very complicated, you can either type it into the google search bar or write the URL. The URL is virtualwritingtutor.com

When you've gained access to the Virtual Writing Tutor website, you will first see the logo, in the top left corner.
The first horizontal menu offers you many different pages for anything more specific that you might want to access.
In the middle of the screen is a big box where you can type in text. You cant' miss it, it is very large. That's where we will spend our time.
That box offers you different options of what they can do with what you typed in it. It can count your words just as it can verify if your grammar or punctuation is correct. You can scroll down to have more information but for now, it is not necessary.

Now that we know more about the Virtual Writing Tutor website, we can begin our work.
If you are like me, and you want to make sure there aren't any grammar, punctuation or any other type of mistakes, all you need to do is either type in your text or copy and paste it into the text box. I recommend copy and pasting because it is much quicker.
Once it is inside the box, all you have to do is to click on the option you want the virtual writing tutor to do.
Here, we will do a grammar check, to make sure there aren't any grammar mistake in the text.
Once you've clicked, you will have a new text box, called "Error Profile" appear under the original box you typed your text in.
This one contains all the mistakes the Virtual Writing Tutor has found, and a way of correcting them.
That's all you need to do to use the Virtual Writing Tutor in a way I would use it in my field of study.

In then end, if you are in Social Sciences, and you have a long essay that you think contains mistakes but you quite can't find them.
You just need to follow the instructions I just gave you, and you will have solved the problem.
