How to use VirtualWritingTutor?

Introduction

Hi!
My name is Ariane and today, I’m going to show you how to use VirtualWritingTutor.

So, I have been studying in the program " Laboratory Technology: Biotechnology " at Ahuntsic College for 2 years.

For those of you who don't know about this program, let me explain. It consists of the study of living things, such as animal or plant cells for example. As for the courses, we cover concepts of biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, which allows us to enter several fields such as medical, pharmaceutical, or toxicological. Basically, any field that has a laboratory, not to mention the other opportunities that add up if we decide to go to university.

The Problem

However, when it comes to filling out a safety sheet concerning a hazardous product, someone may face the problem that some reference sites that we need are in English.

As a result, the basic knowledge we have in English is not enough to make ourselves understood in the workplace or to understand at all, particularly when we have to write a report after an experiment.

For instance, in some cases, mostly in English-speaking universities in Canada or abroad, it will be necessary to write or read reports in English. Also, as I said before, when it comes to filling out a safety sheet concerning a hazardous product, such as NaOH, some reference sites that we need are in English while having many abbreviations like in the Merck Index.

This is where our dear website VirtualWritingTutor comes into play, as it allows us to improve and practice our English.

The Quest

First, open a new tab. Type in the address bar at the top of the screen, the URL virtualwritingtutor.com. If you typed the URL correctly, you will see this page.

At the top of the screen, on the left, here's the logo of the website and on the right seems to have a communication tool that allows you to converse with an AI in order to practice your communication skills. In the middle of your screen, you have a text area. At the top of your screen, in the middle, you will see the navigation menu, where you can see an accordion button and some of the options. You click on the accordion button in order to see the options about this specific option. For example, if you want to see your glossary. You click on the accordion button next to Writing Tools, then you click on Glossary Creator. If you want to go back, you may click on the back arrow.

The Solution

Now, here is where you want to go to find the solution to the specific problem that I mentioned before. You go to Glossary Creator, like I shown you before. You create a new glossary by clicking on the bar that says New Glossary Title. You write your title, and you click on the button New Glossary. Then, while you are filling out your glossary, you will see the area Translation. Click on the button in this area. Choose the language that you want to translate to and then click on the button Go. In the middle on the left, write the word or the words that you want to translate in the text area, in order to have your translation in the middle on the right. Copy your translation and paste it in the area Term. You may also do the same for the definition. Now, you have a glossary that helps you with your vocabulary.

The Conclusion

So, if you need to know a word related to your field, you now know how you can solve that problem.

So, this is how a part of this website works. I hope that was useful to you. You may subscribe to my channel, which is free. Thanks for watching.
