Exploring Animal Health

Introduction

Hello, my name is Ariane and I study in the Animal Health Technology program at the CEGEP of Sherbrooke. It's my second year in this program. I will finish it in May 2027. This program trains veterinary assistants, so we learn how to care for animals. We study animal anatomy, diseases, and treatments. We also practice how to restrain animals, how to handle them, and how to keep them calm. This program helps us develop the skills we need to work in veterinary clinics, and I really like it. For this program, you only need to love animals a lot.

The health and the welfare of animals is very important. A lot of people love animals and want them to be safe and well-treated. It makes animal lovers and veterinary workers to work together.

Sometimes, I get a little bit nervous when I did an anesthesia or euthanasia because I have the life of the animals in my hands. I always try my best to stay calm, did a check list and follow the instruction carefully.

I study Animal Health Technology at the CEGEP of Sherbrooke, and I almost finish my second year. In this program, I have learned a lot of skills, like taking care of animals, taking blood samples, to manipulate a syringe with a needle, restraining them safely and how to do anesthesia. I have practiced these skills in labs with real animals. This really helps me to feel more confident and more prepared for my future job in a veterinary clinic. I am a responsible and careful person. This program taught me how to work safely and help animals the better that I can.

My goal is to help animals with their problems and their health and to work in a veterinary clinic for the rest of my life.

I just want you to take care of animals even if it's not yours and keep them safe. If you can do nothing for them or can't bring them home to help them, just go at a SPCA or a veterinary clinic, we will help them.

The Problem

Sometimes in the clinic we have to take a blood sample, but animal, most of the times, no like it. We can have some complication if they move too much or, if they are scared or even be aggressive.

If the animals move or get scared, they can hurt themselves or the person taking the blood. Also, if the animals move, the blood may not be good for the lab, and we will need to do it again.

For example, a dog who is moving during a blood test, make it hard to take the sample safely.

But don't worry, I will tell you a little secret. I will say what we do in this situation.

Now, I will give you a short tour of the website. So, at the top of the page, there is a menu.
In the top left corner, you can see the name of the website, Virtual Writing Tutor.
Next to it, there are different options you can click.
In the center of the page, there is a large text box.
This is where you can write or paste your text.
Above the text box, there are instructions that explain how to use the tool.
Below the text box, there is a button to check your grammar.
When you click on it, the website analyzes your text and shows corrections.
On the page, you can also find explanations and suggestions to improve your writing. The corrections appear under your text.
Now that you know where everything is, you are ready to use the Virtual Writing Tutor to improve your English writing.

The Solution

But don't worry, we can give them some treat to keep the animal busy or to help the animal to be less stress. We can also sedate animals to keep them calm, still, and stress-free during the blood sample.
