Hello everyone, my name is Justin Botbol and I study Natural sciences at Montmorency College for one year already. Today, I will show you guys how to use an excellent grammar checker, the Virtual Writing Tutor, which is free to use.
Natural sciences are a vast field of study, which comports a lot of various and complex language that can be hard to pronounce and to memorize, even in French, my first language. In biology, by example, there must be thousands of different species with complex names. One of my dreams would be to continue my studies in the United States, so I must perfect all those complex words if I want to stand a chance against other students. This will be a very hard challenge for me. Teachers at universities won't be generous with me if words are not spelled correctly, even if they know I'm not studying in my first language.
The first step is of course to open the website. Open a new tab, then type the URL address in the search bar, near the top of the screen. Just under the search bar, you can see the logo at the left and the social media icon at the right if you want to share this website with your friends. Under those, you can find the navigation menu, that offers multiple options that I suggest for you to check out.
Under the navigation menu, the instructions on how to use the website are written. In the middle of the screen, there is a huge text box. This is where you will check the text you want to verify the spelling or more. In the bottom right corner of the text box, you can find the speech button and the microphone button. These buttons can be useful to verify the pronunciation of a word or to verify if you can pronounce a word correctly. In my field of study, it is really important for me to make sure the spelling of each word is correct. For example, if I type the sentence, "The photosynthesis is a process involving oxygen, carbon dioxide, water and glucose." I can check immediately by pressing "check grammar" all the mistakes I have made by typing all those words. The corrector will also tell you the number of words, the number of paragraph, the number of errors and the error density. In this case, the site tell me that I have a possible spelling mistake. The Virtual Writing Tutor is also useful if you are not sure how to pronounce a weird word. After typing the word you are looking for, you can simply click on the speech button, and it will learn you how to say the word with an appropriate pronunciation.
In conclusion, this website could really help you if you are studying in a field using a lot of complex words. Don't hesitate to share the Virtual Writing Tutor with your friends. I hope this video helped you guys, and I wish you all a great day.
