Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to my video! My name is Hugo, I’m 19 years old and I’m a second-year student in the Physiotherapy Technology program. This program lasts three years, so I only have one year left at college before going to university. In this program, we take courses about anatomy, injuries, and rehabilitation, and we learn how to help people recover from pain or physical limitations through exercises and treatments. After finishing this program, I plan to go to university to study either physiotherapy or kinesiology in order to continue working in the rehabilitation field.

We all want to help patients the best we can, right? But to do that, physiotherapists need good and reliable information about injuries and diseases. Sometimes it is hard to find clear and trustworthy information on the internet. Like many students, we want simple and good sources to help us learn and do our work well.

I'm still a student and not a professional yet, but I have already learned a lot about injuries and rehabilitation in my program.

In my clinical training, I am one of the best students at finding exercises that match the personality and needs of my patients. This helps patients to stay motivated.

My goal today is to show you a helpful website called Physiopedia. I’m going to show you how this website can help physiotherapists and students find good and reliable information about injuries and different pathologies.

The Problem

Like I said earlier, in physiotherapy, we often need to find good information about injuries and different conditions. But sometimes it is hard to know if the information on the internet is reliable. This can make it difficult for students and physiotherapists to find clear and trustworthy sources.

If we use information that is not reliable, we could misunderstand a condition and give the wrong advice to patients.

For example, imagine that you need to quickly find information about a specific injury to better understand a patient’s condition. If you cannot find a clear and reliable source, it can be difficult to know what the best treatment or exercises are.

That can be difficult, but don’t worry, because I’m going to show you a website that can help solve this problem.

The Quest

First, open your browser. Type this URL, so https://www.physio-pedia.com/home/, into the address bar and hit enter. If you typed the URL correctly, you will see this page.

Firstly, in the top left corner we have the physiopedia logo. At the top of the screen in the middle, we can find the navigation menu where we can click on every single sections to learn, for example, physical rehabilitation techniques throughout the courses' button. In the top right corner of the screen, we have the login button if you want to crate an account. In the middle of the screen we can find the search which is the most useful button of this site.

The Solution

Now here is how you can find the solution on Physiopedia. First, click on the search bar in the middle of the screen and type the pathology you are looking for. For example, an ankle sprain, which is a very common injury. Then the website will show you a page with useful information about the condition, including the mechanism of Injury, the clinical presentation, the epidemiology. For those of you who don’t know, epidemiology means the study of how often a disease happens, how can it happens and who it affects.

The Conclusion

So, if you are a physiotherapy student or a physiotherapist, that’s one way to solve the problem of finding reliable information about injuries and pathologies. I promised I would show you a solution, and I did it using the website Physiopedia.
