English is not my first language, and at the beginning of my studies, writing academic texts in English was not easy for me. I often felt unsure about my grammar, my vocabulary, and the clarity of my sentences.

I am currently in my second year in Social Service, and through my studies, I have written many reflection papers, reports, and case analyses in English. Over time, I have learned how important good writing tools are to succeed academically.

My goal today is to show you a website that can help Social Service students improve their English writing skills in a simple and effective way.

Many important research articles and academic resources in Social Service are written in English, especially those from the United States or international organizations. Students are often required to read and write about complex and sensitive topics in a second language.

If the language is not clear, the message can be misunderstood. This can affect grades, confidence, and even the way serious topics like domestic violence or trauma are presented.

For example, when writing a paper about domestic violence intervention, students may use complex terms such as coercive control or psychological abuse. A simple grammar or spelling mistake can change the meaning of a sentence.

In the next part of this screencast, I will show you a tool that helps prevent these problems and improves academic writing.

Now, let me give you a short tour of the website that can help solve this problem.First, open your browser and type virtualwritingtutor.com in the address bar, then press enter.

In the top left corner of the screen, you can see the logo of the website.

At the top of the screen, in the middle, there is the navigation menu, where you can access different writing tools.

In the center of the page, there is a large text area where you can write or paste any text you want to check. Just below the text area, there are several checkboxes that allow you to verify grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and sentence structure.

If we go back to the navigation menu and click on “Writing Tools”, you can find options such as creating an outline for an essay, improving vocabulary, or getting feedback on your writing.

In the top right corner of the screen, there are icons that allow you to share the website on social media.

Finally, if you scroll down the page, you will see a short description that explains what each tool and option does.

Now, this is where you can find the solution to the problem I mentioned earlier.

For example, if you are writing an assignment in Social Service about domestic violence, you may use terms that are difficult to pronounce or spell. A term like coercive control can be hard to pronounce. If you click on this button in the text area, the website can pronounce the term for you.

Another example is the word psychologicall. If you click on the “check grammar” option, the website immediately shows that the word is not written correctly. As you can see on the screen, the correct form is psychological.

Finally, if you write a full text like this one, you can also check your punctuation and word count.

At the beginning of this screencast, my goal was to show a simple solution to a common problem faced by Social Service students: writing academic texts in English.
