How to use properly Virtual Writing Tutor as a tool to check grammar?

Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to my video!
My name is Coralie, and I’m currently studying Social Sciences in Sherbrooke CEGEP since last year. This program explores how society works through subjects like Psychology, Sociology, economics, and political science. It helps students understand human behavior, social systems, and real-world issues. After this program, I want to become a clinical psychologist.

Like many people, I find English, as a second language hard sometimes, so this tool will help explain to you all of your errors and correct them.

Even thought I didn't made this site, I use it for 6 weeks for now, and I highly recommend it!

I used a thousand times this site to help me correct my texts, and it worked all the time!

My goal today is to show you how to use the Virtual Writing Tutor for your professional field.

So, stay right there, and get ready to follow this step-by-step tutorial.

You'll be amazed at how it's easy to write an error free text using the tool that I am going to show you. You'll love it.

The Problem

One real problem people in my future career may face is making grammar mistakes when writing emails to clients or patients, for example. In psychology, communication must be clear, professional, and respectful. Even small grammar errors could make a message confusing or seem unprofessional, which might affect trust between a psychologist and a patient.

If you write a text to one of your patients, and it contains many errors it can look unprofessional.

We will see an example in my demonstration later.

To help solve this problem, I searched online for a tool that checks grammar and helps improve speaking skills. That’s how I found the website Virtual Writing Tutor.

The Quest

To find it, you simply open your browser, like Google Chrome, or add a new tab at the top of the screen, then, you type in the address bar at the top of the screen, this URL : VirtualWritingTutor.com, and click on the official link.

When you arrive on the page, you’ll see the logo of the site in the top left corner of the screen, and the navigation menu at the top of the screen in the middle.
There are many tools in the navigation menu, but I am going to concentrate my attention on this one: writing tools. When I click on that button, I can do a glossary (glossary creator), I can also use the screencast script creator feature to practice speaking explanations, such as describing therapy steps or giving instructions.
First, the: improve writing button on the top left-hand side of the screen, can be used if you want to improve your writing by having some feedback from the system.
Second, the check grammar button also in the top left corner of the screen is the one that I will particularly use for my demonstration later…So, stay tuned to know what it does!
And you can also do so many other things like checking your level or having advice from the system.
Finally, you also have this important speaker button on the right-hand side of the screen that can help you hear what you wrote, only by simply clicking on this text-to-speech button, and this microphone on its left which can be used to speak and write at your place! After that, you can use the text area in the middle of the screen, to fill in your text and use some of these tools.

The Solution

So, this was a short but useful tour explaining the essential elements on this site.
For now, let’s imagine I’m a future psychologist writing an email to a patient to confirm an appointment.
First, I type my message into the text box in the middle of the page. For example, I might write:
“Hello, I am writting you to confirm your appointment tomorrow at 10.”
Next, I click on the grammar check.
The website highlights the mistake and suggests the correction:
“I am writing.”
This is helpful because it immediately shows what’s wrong and how to fix it. I can correct my sentence before sending the email, which makes my message clearer and more professional.
For someone in psychology, this is very useful because clear communication is essential for building trust, avoiding misunderstandings, and providing quality care.

The Conclusion

So, if you are in psychology or a related field, that's how you solve the problem of writing errors.
