Hi, my name is Loïc, I'm 21 years old, and I'm currently a student in Prehospital Emergency Care program since this year. This program main goals are health and emergency services.
As we all know, in an emergency, even a small mistake can have huge consequences. Nobody wants that to happen.
Even though I am still a student in Prehospital Emergency Care, and I don't have years of experience yet, I am fully aware that the more rigorous I am in studying, the safer patient will be.
For the past 6 months, I have been studying harder than you can imagine, and I am telling you that my grades are following it. I only focus on straight A's because when you have a life between your arms, giving under a 100% is not even an option.
My goal is to become a paramedic in Sherbrooke and try to make a difference.

When I'll become a paramedic, I will work in emergency situations like overdoses, allergic reactions and cardiac arrest. In these situations, medications are very important to know. Because of that, it’s important to understand how drugs work, their effects, and how they are used.
Choosing the correct drug and dosage for your patient is very important, any mistakes can cause side effect, and you can make the situation worst or even provoke death.
For example, paramedics are using naloxone to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, and restore breathing. However, an overdose of naloxone can cause respiratory failure, unconsciousness, and even death if not treated quickly.
This is why I have chosen to present you Drugs.com, which I think will be a good reference for my eventual questions.

This website gives you clear and reliable information about medications. In the top left corner of the page you have the logo website, on the other side in the top right corner of the page it is where you can sign in creating an account. At the bottom in the middle of the page is where you will find a link to download the app on your phone. Below the title, the page is divided into different quick sections. These section help users quickly find important information like pill identifier, compare drugs, and much more. This is useful in healthcare because time and clarity are very important. In the top center of the page, there’s a search bar where you can search for medication or a medical topic.
For example, I can search for a drug commonly used in emergencies, like naloxone. In the center of the page, there is the principal information about the drug, why the drug is use for, how it works, and what are the side effects. I think that the information is organized and easy to read for fast use.
As a future paramedic, this website will be useful for me to review medications before or after a call. It can help you improve medical knowledge, and it can also help avoid mistakes related to drug use.
