Hello everyone, my name is Alec and I'm a student in the computer science program at Montmorency College. This course touches on all things related to programming, networks, and security.
It's a common occurrence for me and you to have an error appear on the screen while entering lines in a command prompt or while debugging a program, and finding the sources of those errors to fix them can be a real burden that could take multiple hours. In the end, it's always the smallest thing that you overlooked, and it feels like you just wasted so many hours of your life. None of us wants to experience this. Right? I know I don't.
I have been studying this field for 3 years now, but I'm not the best student. I often procrastinate and don't listen to what the teacher says, distracted by my screen or my thoughts. However, I always end up pulling through, and with good grades nonetheless.
I can consistently achieve grades of around 85 to 90 percent.
My goal is to erase the long hours of research to find a solution for the simplest problems for all of us.

The website I'm about to show you is the number one most useful in the field.
During school, and in general, time is an invaluable resource that you can never have enough of, and spending a large amount of it on debugging is unpractical, to say the least.
This could lead to countless sleepless nights and minimal sleep, which quickly snowballs into worse and worse grades or missed deadlines, and general poor performance.
For example, let's say that in the programming language Java, you are struggling to figure out how to transform the text input of a user into a string, which is a text variable. Imagine that you spend a few fruitless hours trying to understand it without success.
Normally, you would have to spend even more time researching how to do it, but I know exactly what to do to dodge this problem, and I am going to show you now.
First, open the browser of your choice and type in the search bar "Stack Overflow". The correct website should be the first one above. Click on the link, and you'll be met with this page. The first thing you're going to want to need to do is sign up.
In the top left corner of the screen is the logo of the website, followed by a products button, the search bar, and buttons related to account management. On the left-hand side of the screen is the navigation menu containing all the services. Below the search bar, near the top of the screen, are multiple panels that contain information for your account; these aren't very important for my solution to the problem. Below those panels, from the middle of the screen to the bottom, is a collection of posts from other users' questions. To the left of this is a bit of information on the website, and if we scroll down, we can see the community's current level of activity and what is popular currently. Scrolling back up, in the top right corner, we can see the ask question button. This could be used to fix our problems, but that's not what I'm going to be focusing on.
My solution is very simple, you're gonna be writing in simple, concise terms exactly what the problem you're facing is, in our case, you'll want to type "input to string" since we're gonna be using the programming language Java, also write "java". Tap enter, and directly where the users' questions were written previously is where the answer to our question is. Click on the title in blue, and you're going to be led to a page containing what the user originally wrote in the title and the body of the post, including tags. Under this, there is the answer section, the first one to show up is usually the top answer, which is the most precise and in-depth one, as well as the best one for the solution to your problem.
