Hello, my name is Naveen. I am studying in Social Science with Math, and I have been in this program for over two years. For those who are not familiar with this program, Social Science with Math is similar to other business-related programs. We take many of the same core course, but we also have math classes. These math courses open up more opportunities at the university level, especially for programs in business, finance, economics, and other fields that require a strong foundation in mathematics.
Like most people in my program, I believe that math is not an easy subject. Math is not everyone's strong suit which makes it one of the most intimidating subjects out there.
I'll be honest, I have struggled with math. There were times when I felt completely lost and overwhelmed by the subjects. I had many sleepless nights because of this struggle.
Over the past two years, I’ve worked hard in this program at Ahuntsic College. I’ve passed courses that once felt impossible, like my math classes.
My goal here is to help my fellow students in their math classes.
Let me show you a tool that can help you when you are in a pickle.

Let me give you a bit of a context. You got an exam really soon, and you need to study. So you decide to do some practice question.
Sometimes, you decide to check your answer and realize it's wrong—and you might not even understand why. Often, the textbook doesn’t explain it clearly, or you simply don’t know what steps to take to solve the question.
So naturally, you want to know what you did wrong or what steps you should have taken. You’re looking for an answer that’s both easy to understand and quick to find.
This can be frustrating, but the app Photomath can be really useful for this kind of situation
, which I am going to show you right now.
Photomath can only be used on your phone or tablet. First, open your device’s app store either the App Store for iPhones or the Google Play Store for Android devices. After, that type “Photomath” into the search bar. Once you find the app, click the “Download” or “Install” button to download it to your device.
Once you've downloaded the app, you can open it. Once opened, it should usually ask you if it can use your camera (not for me because I already did it). But after that, your camera should be the main screen of the app. At the bottom left, there should be a calculator icon where you can type your problem manually. After that, there's a capture button to take photos of your math problems. Under the capture button, there is a photo tab to upload pictures, and a flash icon to take pictures if you need better lighting. At the top left, there's a settings menu where clicking on it brings out a menu to adjust the app to your preference, and on the top right, there's a question mark icon where they teach you how the app works.
to start there are two ways for you to check your answers. the first method is to take a picture of the question, you focus on the question and click on the capture button. the app will scan your question and you will get a pop up window with the solution in it.in the bottom part of the window there a red bar clicking on it will show you how the app solved your question. you will be transported to a window were they show you how the question was solved step by step. Clicking on each part of the solution tells you what they are doing. You can click on the red button at the bottom where you'll go to the next step. on the left of the red button there an arrow icon wich make you go back to the step before. the second method is to write your question. because sometimes your camera might get some part of the question wrong or you do not like using your camera. you can click on the calculator app on write your own question. on the bottom part of the calculator there are section to find the symbols you need. each are separated by there use. at first it might take some time to write your question but after a couple of tries you'll get the hang of it.
So, if you are having problems doing math, and you don't understand. This app can be a useful for you too.
