My name is Lina Aknioune. I’m a student in Natural Sciences, which is a college-level program that includes subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and math. It prepares students for university studies in health, science, or engineering. I’ve been studying in this program for two years, and I’m currently in my final semester.

One of the main challenges in this program is understanding complex explanations in class or in textbooks. Sometimes, the teachers go too fast or the vocabulary is just too difficult.

When we don’t fully understand in class, we fall behind, get lower grades, and feel discouraged. Studying becomes frustrating instead of motivating.

For example, suppose you need to understand photosynthesis for your biology class.
The teacher explained it quickly using complicated terms, and when you check the textbook, it’s just as confusing.

That’s why in this video, I will present a free and accessible solution that has helped me and that I believe can help you as well, which is YouTube.

To get to YouTube, just open your browser and go to youtube.com.
At the top of the page, you’ll see the search bar. That’s where you type your question or the topic you don’t understand, like “photosynthesis explained simply”.

When the results show up, click on a video that looks clear and not too long.
In the middle of the screen, the video will start. Under the video, you’ll see the title and a short description. On the right, you’ll see other suggested videos that are similar to the one you’re watching.
If you scroll down, you’ll find the comments. Sometimes people share really useful tips there.
If you need subtitles or want to change the speed, just click on the settings icon at the bottom right.

Once you’ve started the video, here’s how I use it to really understand.
First, I watch the whole video once to get the general idea.
Then, I go back and pause after each explanation to write notes or try the steps myself.
If something is confusing, I replay that part as many times as I need.
I also slow the video down when it’s going too fast, or turn on subtitles to follow better.
And sometimes, I even search for another video to see a different explanation. That’s something you can’t do in class when the teacher moves on too fast.

So, if you are in Natural Sciences or a related field, that’s how you solve the problem of not understanding complicated explanations in class.
