A Website That Can Help for Natural Sciences

The Problem

Welcome and thank you for watching my presentation about the great help a website can give. My name is Tristan Tardif-Morency, and I am in the Natural Sciences program at Montmorency College. I have been in this program for almost three years. My program is made to prepare us for university. It teaches us the base of natural sciences like chemistry, physics, and biology. It teaches us also enough mathematics to understand all the formulas and to be able to use them. There is always new discovery in science and there is always place for improvement. Even if it is hard, it is worthwhile to take this program because it leads to a well-paid and fascinating career. I will go to the Polythecnique of Montreal to be a physic engineer after this summer. The website I will show you is very good at solving mathematical problems, equations, and it can show you information about a given subject.

The website I highly recommend when you are in Natural Sciences is named WolframAlpha after the famous physicist that created it, Stephen Wolfram. It has a lot of information useful for the student. It is an encyclopedia as well as a powerful calculator. It is easy to use and extremely helpful. The domain name we need, to access this website is, "wolframalpha.com". Just enter this in the address bar of your browser and click enter to access this website. We can now see the web page. On this web page, there is the logo at the top of screen in the middle. Just below the logo, we can find a text area. In this text area, there is this instruction that tells us to type what we want to calculate or know about. In this same text area, on the right, there is the submit button we can use to submit the text we have written. At the middle of the screen, there are four links leading to different categories of knowledge. Below each category, there are 9 links that leads to topics inside these categories. After submitting a search, it will go to another URL and the web page will change a little. There is still the logo, the text area, and what it had inside. But below that now, there will be the answers of our question or subject.

Let's say that I have homework in mathematics, and I want to make sure I have the good answers and make sure that I know what the subject is. I could use WolframAlpha to complete these tasks. I will show you how to use it and what this calculator can do. In the last classes of mathematics, we saw differential equations, double and triple integrals, infinite sums, complex numbers and the complex roots of a polynomial function. Not a lot of calculators can do all that, and still be free. It can give the exact answer of some hard and long problems.
