Hi, my name is Camille d'Amours. I am currently studying in electrical engineering, more precisely in automation and control. I completed my first session last session, and I am now completing my second one. In this program, we learn about automation, programming, electrical components, networks and more. Graduates of this program are electrical engineering technicians. They are able to do the maintenance of and repair all sorts of electrical equipment.
In this field, the English language is very common. Most softwares and a lot of equipment are made in English for it to be understandable worldwide. This means that what we will have to work with will all be in English. Also, for them to be understood by all and to be coherent, reports will have to be made in English. It may be hard for francophones to work in such circumstances.
I personally find it hard to write reports in English because it is much easier for me to express and explain myself in French.
Although I struggle a bit with English I have followed an English submersive class in sixth grade which made it a bit easier for me to understand this language.
My goal is that by the end of my CEGEP I can write about automation and control in English as easy as I can in French so that I can work while using both English and French.
I want to help you improve your writing by showing you how to use the virtual writing tutor.

What will be hard to do in English in future jobs will be writing reports that are universal and understood by all.
If they are not well-written, it could have impacts on how the people reading the report understands it. They may assume something that is wronged and make errors on their own work.
For example, they could misunderstand the functioning of a piece of equipment and use it wrongly. This could lead to the piece of equipment to breakdown or just break or else.
I will show you how to work with virtual writing tutor, so you can write perfectly in English.
First, go on your browser, click on your search bar and write virtual writing tutor. Then, click on the first link.
In the top left corner of your screen, you can see the name of the page. Just under, at the top of the screen, there is the taskbar. On the right-hand side of the taskbar you can see the link to log in. In the middle of the screen, you can see the text area. On the top of the text area, there are many options that can help you with the quality of your text. In the bottom left corner of the text area, you can see many options that help you with pronunciation.
You can write any phrase in the text area. For example, I will write a simple phrase like “To restart a computer, it’s need to not block certain systems”. You can see how many words, phases and paragraphs you’ve made. You can also check for grammar errors here. It shows you your errors, why it’s an error and suggestions to correct it. You can also get suggestions to improve your text by clicking on improve writing. It shows you a better and more understandable way to write sentences. You can after modify your text as you like.
In conclusion, the virtual writing tutor is really helpful to write good level texts. It is useful in computer sciences to write good reports.
