How are you supposed to apply for a job in the police?

Introduction

Hello and welcome! My name is Allison, and for those who don't know about me, I am a student at Ahuntsic College. One and a half years ago, I decided to study in a program called Police Technology, and I still do. This has always been a dream for me, and I'm beyond grateful to be here.

Becoming a police officer is something I deeply want to achieve especially to help people that think they have no one or are having the worst day of their lives. Everybody can have accidents or lose a loved one from an accident. I want to be able to do my part and change, even if it's just a little, the perception those people have when they think about the police forces.

I must admit, having all those classes at the same time can be really challenging, but at the same time, it makes me the best version of myself. It also is a form of motivation. In fact, all those challenges that I overcame makes me feel like I improved myself a lot. It makes me feel like I'm better than when I started.

I have known what I wanted to become for years. I wanted to be a police officer. That knowledge helped me so that I would stay focused on my studies and get accepted in college. In fact, less than 30% of the candidates get into that program. Getting good grades wasn't easy or without challenges, but I achieved my goals. Studying hard has its prizes, and it feels good to be recognized. I am so proud of myself, and I know that I will do even greater things in the future.

I think that it's pretty clear that I want to become a police officer. On another level, I would say that my plan is to become a member of the K-9 unit. Being a part of that team isn't easy. In fact, there are a LOT of physical and mental tests. It takes a lot of efforts and a lot of hours of volunteering to achieve the goal.

I suggest that you commit to your dreams. The thing is, for them to be achieved, it can get difficult because we don't always gave all of the resources that we need. So, I want you to click on my page to help you use the surrounding resources.

What is about to come next is explanations about how to navigate on the SQ's page, but more specifically how to apply for a job on that same page.

The Problem

When you finish school, people expect you to know exactly how to apply for jobs. While some of you know how to do it, I want to help the people that need help.

Knowing how to navigate on an internet page may be complicated, even more if you are stressed and don't have the help that you need. That's why I consider it essential to do this tutorial.

For example, the simple task of submitting your CV can be pretty complex. Perhaps, this tutorial might guide you a little.

I promise to be as clear as possible and demonstrate every step.

The Quest

First, you have to open google. Then, you have to click on the searching bar and write: "sq.gouv.qc.ca/carriere/". If you've typed the URL correctly, you'll end up directly on the website. It is unfortunately impossible to navigate on that page in English. Don't get me wrong, some information are in fact in English, but you can't apply for a job in English.

The Solution

Let's attack the real problem. Once you're on the website, you scroll down a little and select that you want to become a police member. Once you've done that, click on diplômé ENPQ ou aspirant policier. You'll be able to read about what qualities are important to have as a police member. Then, scroll down again, and you'll be able to click on: postulez maintenant. After that, you'll have to choose where you want to apply and follow the instructions, they are pretty clear. They'll ask about your experiences, your motivations and all your personal information.
