Hello its Philippe Béland welcome back for another video. For those who don't know me I am a student in Police Technology in college Ahuntsic. This is my second year in this program, and I love it so far! I have chosen this program because I want to make a difference in people's life. When I die I want to be remembered as someone who was there to help others and as a policeman who puts the needs of the society before his. Swimming, criminology and law all are subjects that will be studied in this program.
Since last year, when I was doing simulations, I was facing many people with different difficulties like mental health and domestic violence. I realize that remembering all the resources for each problematic could be a really hard task for a pair of mines or a policeman in Quebec because of all the resources that exist in every city. As a person who wants to give the best help to people in needs, I can't imagine giving a help that I don't find adequate because of the lack of knowledge or the emergency of a situation. I think it's important to always have good materials. For one problematic there can be like 25 resources in every corner of Quebec.
Last winter, I was talking about my simulation with my girlfriend who just graduated from the same program as me, and I told her that I was never good at giving resources because there were too many to remember. This is when she showed me this website, its called SAMIC. You can find this tool on google by typing on the search bar "SAMIC", if you want to have quick access to this useful website you can install the app on your digital device on Apple store.
In the top left corner you have the main menu.

In the middle you have the instructions
Under the main menu you can find the scroll bar
When you are in the main menu you have the icons in the middle.
In the top left corner you click to go to the main menu.
When you reach the main menu, you'll be able to see different icons that represent the problematic you can find resources for.
When you click on the one you want, you will see on the left side on the screen all the available resources in different zones.
You will have to scroll to find your zone and once you find it it will show you all the resources at proximity.
Once you find the right one, it will show you the open/close time for this resource, the phone number of the resource and the services included witch is very important to give an appropriate help.
When you scrolled to the bottom left on the page you will see a little icon and when you click on it it will give you suggestion resources based on your localization.
This website will save you time on your daily task as a policeman, and it can be easier to have more meaningful and personalized intervention with the people in needs
So, if in you are working as a policeman, and you need help to remember some of the resources available, this is the way to solve all of your problems.
