Hello everyone, welcome to my screencast. My name is Francois. I am currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering Technology with a major in Automation and Control. I'm doing my internship at the Montreal Transport Society (STM), and I honestly like it. As a traction electrician, you have to know power electricity and the distribution supply chain from Hydro to STM installations across the city. Our job is based on procedures to ensure we work safely meaning in the absence of energy or electricity.
Nobody wants to look bad in front of hierarchy. Writing good report can easily make the difference between a good technician and another. That skill could set u apart when it comes to supervising or lead teams. Because, most of time the job itself will be done regardless.
However, a big issue when talking to technicians is writing a good report. It is essential to perform the job you have been assigned, but it is good practice to back up information as soon as you done. You have to let our bosses know what happen on the job sites, issues that you encountered while working there and how you overcame them. You need a solid report without what you can not give a clear picture of what you did.
As you probably know, technician are straight forward, super practical and good problem solving people. But when it comes to writing reports you have only few who is comfortable with that part of the job.
Most of time when foreman gets technicians report they are fool of mistakes. They can barely understand what is going on. Even though, the tasks were completed.
For example, Misspelling words when writing to your boss can make you and your report look unprofessional.
