Here are some terms from the computer science vocabulary quiz that I was not familiar with for this first glossary assignment.

Buffer
noun
A memory device for temporarily storing data.
Example: The program uses a buffer to temporarily store data before processing it, ensuring smooth and efficient input/output operations.

Drag
verb
To move (a pointing device, such as a mouse) while pressing down on one of its buttons.
Example: Use your mouse to drag the app icon to the right side of the screen.

Freeze

To stop functioning properly, usually temporarily.
Example: The overload of work can cause the computer to freeze.

Hardware
noun
A computer and the associated physical equipment directly involved in the performance of data-processing or communications functions.
Example: After a few years, you might need to upgrade the hardware in your PC.

Local Area Network (LAN)
noun
A network of linked computers on one site, such as in an office.
Example: A Local Area Network (LAN) allows multiple computers within a small geographic area, such as an office or home, to connect and share resources efficiently.

Minimize
verb
To reduce to the smallest possible amount, extent, size, or degree
Example: Minimize the browser application to see your desktop.

Random Access Memory (RAM)
noun
Digital memory hardware in which information can be accessed in any order with equal speed.
Example: Your computer will require more random access memory when performing more demanding tasks such as playing games or having multiple applications open at the same time.

Read Only Memory (ROM)
noun
Digital memory hardware that allows fast access to permanently stored data but prevents addition to or modification of the data.
Example: The computer's firmware is stored in read only memory, which retains data even when the power is turned off.

Scroll
verb
To cause (displayed text or graphics) to move up, down, or across the screen so that a line of text or graphics appears at one edge of the screen for each line that moves off the opposite edge.

Socket
noun
A device into which an electric plug can be inserted in order to make a connection in a circuit.
Example: Do not plug your computer directly into the socket, use a surge protector to protect the components.

To copy (data) into memory or onto a storage device, such as a hard disk.
Example: Use a folder to properly store the files you download on your PC.

Stream
Verb
To transmit or receive (audio or video content), especially over the internet, in small, sequential packets that permit the content to be played continuously as it is being received and without saving it to a hard disk.
Example: You can use services like Netflix and Disney + to stream some of your favorite movies.

troubleshoot
verb
To locate the cause of (a problem) and remove or treat it.
Example: You need to troubleshoot your hardware to find out which one of your components is failing.
