This glossary was created to present important vocabulary related to dentistry and oral health as a future dentist it is important for me to understand and use professional dental terms correctly in English this glossary includes keywords that are commonly used in dental clinics and during dental treatments It will help me improve my medical vocabulary and prepare for my future career in dentistry.
Anesthesia

A temporary, medically induced state of controlled unconsciousness, pain relief, and/or loss of sensation used during surgery and procedures.

Noun
Specialized orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth, correct bite issues (malocclusions), and improve overall oral health by applying gentle, consistent pressure to move teeth into a better position over time.
Example: She wore braces to straighten her teeth.

A decayed part of a tooth.

Noun
A custom-made restoration that covers the entire visible portion of a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth down to the gum line.

Sticky biofilm, colorless to pale yellow, composed of bacteria and food residues that forms continuously on the teeth, especially along the gums.

A common dental procedure, also known as endodontic treatment, that saves a severely damaged, infected, or decayed tooth by removing the damaged, infected, or dead pulp from inside the tooth, then cleaning, filling, and sealing the space.
