This glossary was made for understanding some concept of my field of study.

alliance
A union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations.
Example: Davies, S. (2000), Globalisation is Good! , Libertarian ALLIANCE.

noun
A minor change or addition designed to improve a text, piece of legislation, etc.
Example: Instead of treating abortion as a wrong, the right of abortion is derived from the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth AMENDMENT.

assimilation
noun
The process of taking in and fully understanding information or ideas.
Example: In this case, the American Indians and the ancient Egyptians had in common: a belief in gods, superstitions, rituals and artefacts - 'Establishing that commonality was the first step towards ASSIMILATION."

capitalism
noun
An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit.
Example: How relevant is Marx's labour theory of value in analysing the nature of employment under contemporary CAPITALISM?

citizenship
noun
The position or status of being a citizen of a particular country, state, or commonwealth.
Example: Japanese immigration has effectively managed to limit the ability of international spouses to obtain CITIZENSHIP, and the Claim for the Revocation of a Decision Not to Permit the Change of the Status for a Sojourn in Japan - 1999 has cemented this limitation.

The action or process of settling among and establishing control over the Indigenous people of an area.
Example: Every moral agent today is aware that COLONIZATION and slavery were unjust and wrong.

constitution
noun
A body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.
Example: Lord Woolf, 'The Rule of Law and a Change in the CONSTITUTION', March 03, 2004, Following the secularization of Natural Law emerged the Social Contract Theory, presenting law as a consented contractual arrangement between citizens and the state.

noun
The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
Example: They were small changes which were put in place to stimulate commitment to bigger and more significant changes in the CULTURE.

democracy
noun
A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Example: It is implied that there is greater potential for wrongdoing by the powerful in systems other than DEMOCRACY.

dictatorship
noun
Government by a dictator.
Example: Despite the concession that Hitler, or rather the 'Hitler myth' played an important role in the third Reich, it does not follow that the influence was necessarily advantageous for Nazi Germany as a DICTATORSHIP.

noun
The wealth and resources of a country or region, especially in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services.
Example: The latter increases risk and instability of investments in production of the local ECONOMY, and it is investments that are seen to be a major source of growth.

noun
The study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by these, including the distribution of populations and resources, land use, and industries.
Example: There are other factors which contribute towards differences in health which should also be mentioned, these are gender, ethnicity, marital status and GEOGRAPHY (U205 course team 1985).

globalization

The process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale.
Example: It is true that GLOBALIZATION has brought the nation states a series of problems.

noun
The governing body of a nation, state, or community.
Example: The term 'local GOVERNMENT' refers to 'a sub-national level of GOVERNMENT which has jurisdiction over a limited range of state functions.

human rights
noun
A right that is believed to belong justifiably to every person.
Example: It attempts to explore how someone can be deemed to lack capacity to make decisions; whether it is possible that mental capacity will fluctuate and whether forced treatment is in breach of a person's HUMAN RIGHTS.

noun
The development of industries in a country or region on a wide scale.
Example: Americans often sought to integrate both nature and INDUSTRIALIZATION.

inflation
noun
The action of inflating something or the condition of being inflated.
Example: Argentina's negative growth in this period can be linked to the transition from a pegged to a floating exchange rate system with consequent INFLATION (25.9% in 2002, 13.4% in 2003), generating economic instability.

The system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.
Example: The Viking conquests left lasting impressions on the areas they visited, their social structure, dialects, place names, personal names and even LAW codes.

migration
noun
Movement of people to a new area or country in order to find work or better living conditions.
Example: Likewise, high fertility could force prices up, wages down, encourage MIGRATION and make disease more probable.

natural resources
noun
A natural resource is something that is not made by humans but is necessary or useful in their lives.
Example: This includes factors such as valuing landscapes and protecting wildlife habitats and NATURAL RESOURCES.

Relating to the government or the public affairs of a country.
Example: Those factors includes POLITICAL, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal environment (PESTEL).

noun
All the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country.
Example: The interaction of predators, pests to sustain the balance of each POPULATION.

referendum
noun
A general vote by the electorate on a single political question that has been referred to them for a direct decision.
Example: Even the credit for the REFERENDUM on reform of the electoral system can be put down to the effectiveness of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform.

noun
The aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community.
Example: The term taboo can be applied to a broad range of ideas in any SOCIETY, and is difficult to grasp precisely.

noun
The process of making an area more urban.
Example: Population Trends and URBANIZATION in West Africa.
