I have made a glossary about teaching because that is the field of study I want to go to. That is words that I think teachers could use in their everyday lives.
- Active Learning
- Engaging students in the learning process through activities such as discussion, problem-solving, and role-playing.
- Assessment
- Assessments are ways of collecting information about a student’s strengths, needs, and interests. People generally think of assessments as tests. But, they can also include observation, record review, and talking with the student and/or parents.
- Assessment task
- An assessment task refers to a specific activity relating to any method of assessment that requires students to demonstrate their learning towards an intended learning outcome.
- Bullying
- Bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior among children. Bullying could take the form of making threats, spreading rumors, using physical force, or intentionally excluding someone from a group.
- Collaboration
- the situation of two or more people working together to create or achieve the same thing
- Curriculum
- A curriculum refers to planned instructional material (such as lessons, practice work, tests, and experiences) and knowledge goals. Terms such as scope (what content will be covered) and sequence (what order the content is covered in) often describe curriculum.
- Evaluation
- In special education, an evaluation means the procedures used to determine whether a child has a disability and the nature and extent of the special education and related services that the child may need.
- Feedback
- Information given to the learner about their performance relative to learning goals.
- Growth Mentality
- In education, a growth mindset refers to the idea that students and staff can change and improve their abilities through hard work and helpful teaching and tools.
- Homeschooling
- Homeschooling is the process of educating your children in the home. Each state has different rules and policies regarding homeschooling, but parents in every state have the right to teach their children in the home.
- Legend
- a traditional tale handed down from generation to generation.
- Linguistic
- the study of the nature and structure of language and communication.
- Paragraph
- a subdivision of a written composition that consists of one or more sentences, deals with one point, or gives the words of one speaker, usually beginning with an indented line.
- Pedagogy
- The method and practice of teaching, particularly as an academic subject or theoretical concept .
- Revise
- in the writing process, to change or correct a manuscript to make its message more clear. When writers revise, they address strengths and weaknesses, arguments, focus, support or evidence, voice, and mechanics.
- Rubric
- A rubric for assessment, usually in the form of a matrix or grid, is a tool used to interpret and grade students’ work against criteria and standards. Rubrics are sometimes called criteria sheets, grading schemes, or scoring guides.
- Summarizing
- a comprehension strategy in which the reader constructs a brief statement that contains the essential ideas of a passage.
- Syntax
- the grammatical pattern or structure of word order in sentences, clauses, and phrases.
- Theme
- the overall message, or central idea, of a text. The author usually does not state the message he or she wants to tell readers.
- Visualizing
- A form a picture in your mind of something you want to achieve, in the belief that doing so will make it more likely to happen.
