I have been studying Social Science at Cegep of Thetford for a few years now, and I really like the classes, I want to study International at the University of Sherbrooke. My topic is Internal Study, it helps people to understand how countries interacts with each others and why. It's also about world problems, trade, conflicts, diplomacy and more. This glossary is made for students who want to understand basic words used in International Studies. It can help beginner to learn words about world politics, countries, conflicts and relations between nations. This will contain 20 words with definition that I found on Internet
- Ambassador
- An accredited diplomat sent by a state as its permanent representative in a foreign country.
- Border
- The part of an area that forms its outer boundary; the line that separates one area, state, or country from another periphery.
- Capitalism
- An economic and political system in which property, business, and industry are controlled by private owners rather than by the state, with the purpose of making a profit.
- Colonialism
- The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically.
- Communism
- A theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.
- Constitution
- The set of political principles by which a state or organization is governed, especially in relation to the rights of the people it governs.
- Diplomacy
- The profession, activity, or skill of managing international relations, typically by a country's representatives abroad.
- Ethnic
- Of or belonging to a population group or subgroup made up of people who share a common cultural background or descent.
- foreign policy
- A government's strategy in dealing with other nations.
- Hostile
- Unfriendly and not liking something.
- Example: Example: hostile reception the president had a hostile reception in Ohio this morning.
- Institution
- A large and important organization, such as a university or bank.
- Nation
- A country, especially when thought of as the people who live there, often with its own culture, language, and customs.
- Native
- Relating to or describing someone's country or place of birth or someone who was born in a particular country or place.
- prisoner of war
- A person who has been captured and imprisoned by the enemy in war.
- region
- A particular area or part of the world, or any of the large official areas into which a country is divided.
- resource
- A stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization to function effectively.
- state
- A nation or territory considered an organized political community under one government.
- strategy
- A detailed plan for achieving success in situations such as war, politics, business, industry, or sport, or the skill of planning for such situations.

- The act or the state of being joined together.

- Armed fighting between two or more countries or groups, or a particular example of this.
