I'm making this glossary to discover different materials I can use in different mediums of art.
Acrylic paint.
Noun.
It's a balanced mix of acrylic polymer and water, as well as pigment. It is a type of paint that dries fast and is very vibrant and versatile.
Example: I got acrylic paint all over my shirt and it's not coming off.

Alcohol markers.
Noun.
Pens containing permanent alcohol-soluble ink, it is used for its fast drying and streak-free application.
Example: I'm using my alcohol markers to draw a bunny.

Ball-point pen.
Noun.
a pen that uses a small, hard rotating ball to dispense ink on paper.
Example: I'm drawing a sketch with my ball-point pen.

Blender.
Noun.
It's a tightly rolled paper stick used to smooth and intensify pencil strokes.
Example: I lost my blender, I cannot blend the sky for my drawing anymore.

Brush tip blender markers.
Noun.
they have synthetic flexible paint brush like tips and are used for blending, softening and creating gradients. They are usually paired with alcohol markers.
Example: I'm using my brush tip blender markers to do the gradients in my drawing.

Canvas.
Noun.
strong woven fabric (cotton or linen) that's lightweight and used for painting. It is often stretched across a wooden frame.
Example: I accidentally pierced a hole in my canvas.

Charcoal.
Noun.
It's light, black and dry, and it's made from charred wood heated without oxygen. It usually comes in the form of a stick, and it is very easy to blend.
Example: I am using charcoal to draw a sketch of my dog.

Chisel.
Noun.
A hand tool with a long rectangular blade. It has a beveled edge and is often used by being struck with a mallet to cut or shape different materials, which is very helpful while sculpting.
Example: I cannot find my chisel anywhere.

Compass.
Noun.
A V-shaped drawing tool to create precise circles and arches.
Example: I'm using my compass to draw the sun.

Eraser pen.
Noun.
Used for precise erasing, it has a long, thin refillable tip kept inside a pen-like holder.
Example: I made a small mistake in my drawing, so I'm using the eraser pen to fix it.

Fan brush.

It's a brush with thin bristles arranged in a wide, semicircular shape. It is often used for painting hair or foliage.
Example: I am using my fan brush to paint a willow tree.

India ink/China ink.

It's a permanent black ink usually made from lampblack and a binder like shellac or gelatin.
Example: I spilled India ink all over myself.

Kneaded eraser.

It's an eraser made of unvulcanized rubber that is soft and can be moldable. It absorbs the graphite, the charcoal or the pastel from the paper.
Example: I used my kneaded eraser to get rid of the mistake I made on my drawing.

Medium.
Noun.
A substance added to paint to alter its properties without affecting the stability of the colour. It can change texture, drying time and viscosity.
Example: I'm using medium to make my paint more transparent.

Oil pastels.
Noun.
They come in stick form, and they are made with pigment and a mixture of non-drying oil and wax. They can be considered a drawing material as well as a painting material.
Example: I bought some new oil pastels yesterday.

Paint mixing palette.
Noun.
Surface used to arrange, hold and blend paints.
Example: I'm using a paint mixing palette to mix blue and yellow to create green for grass.

Sanguine.
Noun.
It's an iron-oxide-based chalk known as red chalk, because of its reddish-brown colour.
Example: I am using sanguine to draw a bird.

Synthetic drawing gum.
Noun.
Liquid masking fluid used to keep areas of an art project paint or ink-free. The liquid dries in 10-15 minutes and can be rubbed of with an eraser or a finger to reveal the white underneath. It is very useful for making things like stars or falling snow.
Example: I'm using the synthetic drawing gum to create stars for my painting of a night sky.

Water-colour paper.
Noun.
Specially engineered paper designed for absorbing water and paint without tearing, pilling or warping, which is essential for water-color painting.
Example: Water-color paper is very resistant to water, I love using it to paint.
fr: Papier aquarelle.
Water-colour pencils.
Noun.
They're the same as regular pencils, but the core is water-soluble and pigment based-based. When dry, they function like regular coloring pencils, and when mixed with water, they give a water-colour effect.
Example: I accidentally broke one of my water-colour pencils.
