This glossary is about teaching. Teaching is the process of attending to people’s needs, experiences and feelings, and intervening so that they learn particular things, and go beyond the given. Teachers are principally in primary school, secondary school, college, and university. It can be easier for people who wanted to be a teacher to discover this terms because they will use it every day.
- academic
- A teacher or scholar at a college or institute of higher education.
- alphabet
- A set of letters or other characters with which one or more languages are written especially if arranged in a customary order.
- assignment
- A task or piece of work assigned to someone as part of a job or course of study.
- classmate
- A fellow member of a class at school or college.
- classroom
- A room, typically in a school, in which a class of students is taught.
- correction
- The action or process of correcting something.
- curriculum
- The subjects comprising a course of study in a school or college.
- education
- The process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.
- grammar
- The whole system and structure of a language of of a languages in general, usually taken as consisting of syntax and morphology (including inflections) and sometimes also phonology and semantics.
- homeschooling
- The education of a child at home by their parents.
- lesson
- An amount of teaching given at one time; a period of learning or teaching.
- pedagogy
- The method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept.
- primary (school)
- A school for children between the ages of about five and eleven.
- school subject
- An area of learning within the school curriculum that constitutes an institutionally defined field of knowledge and practice force teaching and learning.
- secondary (school)
- A school for children between the ages of about eleven and sixteen or eighteen.
- spelling
- The process or activity of writing or naming the letters of as word.
- student
- A person who is studying at a school or college.
- teacher
- A person who Teachers, usually as a job at a school or similar institution.
- theory
- A dynamic field that examines the processes of teaching and learning, including the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values.
- tutor
- A private teacher, typically one who teaches a single student or a very small group.
