I am in graphic design. I have been in this program for two years. This glossary would be useful to understand many terms who are use in graphic design. It would be useful for students or anybody who wanted to learn about this career. It was designed to facilitate the understanding of some important concepts used in graphic design. It contains 20 theoretical and graphic design specific terms. It based on what I learn in class and the definitions were on googles. I want you to understand this vocabulary and maybe in the future using them.

Is a subtractive color model used in color printing that stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black).
Example: Before sending the brochure to the printer, ensure all images are converted to CMYK format.

verb
Carve, mold, or stamp a design on (a surface or object) so that it stands out in relief.
Example: The silver cup is embossed with a design of flowers.

A set of type of one particular face and size.
Example: The designer chose a clean, modern font to make the website text easier to read.

Relating to or using a system of numerical notation that has 16 rather than 10 as its base.
Example: A 128-bit WEP key is almost always entered by users as a string of 26 HEXADECIMAL characters (0-9 and A-F).

The arrangement of design elements (text, images, shapes) in order of importance to guide a viewer's eye through content, ensuring key information is noticed first.
Example: At the top of the hierarchy of this poster was the title.

An arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.
Example: The creative director asked the team to review the mood board to ensure the new ad campaign matched the brand’s identity.

A system for matching colors, used in specifying printing inks.
Example: The designer selected a specific Pantone shade to ensure the branding remained consistent across all printed materials.

pixel

A minute area of illumination on a display screen, one of many from which an image is composed.
Example: The computer controls each pixel individually. Most monitors have hundreds of thousands, or often millions, of pixels that are lit or dimmed to create an image.

Display resolution, is the total number of distinct pixels (tiny dots) arranged in horizontal and vertical rows on a screen.
Example: The video looks blurry because it is playing at a low resolution.

Red, Green, Blue is an additive color model used in digital displays (screens, cameras, TVs) that creates colors by mixing light.
Example: To ensure the image looks vibrant on screen, I converted the file from CMYK to RGB color mode.
