The use of largely automatic equipment in a system of manufacturing or other production process.
Example: The degree of AUTOMATION concerns with the ratio of machine and human.

Not subject to control from outside; independent.
Example: There will be a greater need for energy efficient, and perhaps AUTONOMOUS, buildings that are more independent of conventional energy sources.

noun
A container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of power.
Example: A BATTERY-powered drill is driven by a 36W electric motor running at 9000 rev min.

noun
A device for recording visual images in the form of photographs, film, or video signals.
Example: Film sequences can be further slowed by the computers ability to interpolate frames between those taken by the CAMERA, allowing more detailed analysis of crashes.

noun
A rotating machine part with teeth that mesh with other toothed parts to transmit rotational motion, torque, or power.
Example: First of all, the power was transmitted from the motor to GEAR A, then to GEAR B on shaft 2.

adjective
Being able to vary its state or action in response to varying situations, varying requirements, and past experience.
Example: As Fisheral. (1994) have indicated this means forecasting via "INTELLIGENT" consultation so as to maximise inputs from "rich" marketplace insider sources.

adjective
Allowing a two-way flow of information between a computer or other device and a user; responding to a user’s input.
Example: Moreover, it makes the communication more living and INTERACTIVE, as users can use web camera to see each other or use icons to show their emotions.

kinematics
noun
The branch of mechanics concerned with the motion of objects without reference to the forces which cause the motion.
Example: As this is a robot, this problem of inverse KINEMATICS is simplified.

precise
adjective
Marked by exactness and accuracy of expression or detail.
Example: Results have shown that the polymer microneedle arrays may be able to penetrate the skin before failing, however due to the non-linear nature of the human skin, a PRECISE assessment could not be made without an actual skin insertion test.

noun
A machine that processes something.
Example: They need to firstly identify the essential hardware required, followed by predicting how it would improve or enhance the functioning of the chip and finally Control the behaviour of the PROCESSOR at the micro architectural level using those predictions.

adjective
Able to be provided with coded instructions for the automatic performance of a task.
Example: PLDs are an array of PROGRAMMABLE logic gates, with connections made and broken between the gates that are described by compiling the code (such as VHDL) used to generate them.

noun
A device which detects or measures a physical property and records, indicates, or otherwise responds to it.
Example: The accuracy of the system depends primarily on the SENSOR's ability to be insensitive to other loading effects, such as axial forces and bending forces.

A self-contained electromechanical device that provides precise control over angular or linear position, velocity, and acceleration.
Example: The robotic arm uses a SERVO MOTOR for high-precision gripping.

simulation
noun
The production of a computer model of something, especially for the purpose of study.
Example: It was formalized into a mathematical system by Gal Chechik in 2003 and will be the learning system employed in this SIMULATION.

stepper motor
noun
A brushless DC motor that rotates in precise, discrete steps, converting digital pulses into mechanical motion for highly accurate positioning without needing a separate sensor.
Example: The PIC18F452 integrated board needs a voltage of 5V while the regulator on it can adjust the 12V to 5V. 12V also meets the two STEPPER MOTOR's requirement.

noun
A device for making and breaking the connection in an electric circuit.
Example: Here, SWITCH S1 was used to extend cylinder A, and it was fully extended it triggered the SWITCH 1S2 which is connected to cylinder B and thus causing the extending of cylinder B.

Example: The performance of the braking system can be expressed as the rate at which the retardation occurs, and it is this factor which braking system design aims TO OPTIMISE.

Example: This way the decision part of the software will know what the situation is with the elderly person without having TO PROCESS all the data again.
