This glossary will be on terms who can be really used in the psychology field. My blog is about it so, if sometimes these terms are used it will be easier for some people to understand it.
antisocial personality disorder

A personality disorder characterized by persistent disregard of the rights of other people, failure to comply with laws and social customs, and irresponsible and reckless behavior.
Example: Finally in order to help people with ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER, different types of therapy need to be addressed and the effectiveness of these therapies considered.

The way in which one acts or conducts oneself, especially toward others.
Example: In other words, the change in intensity by the variation of pulse duration leads to a BEHAVIOR opposite intensity alteration by the variation of pulse energy.

Strategies and behaviors people use to manage stress, difficult emotions, and challenging situations.
Example: These COPING MECHANISMS have been found to be as a result of psychological stress.

exposure therapy

A form of behavior therapy used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, in which the patient is repeatedly confronted with a feared memory, stimulus, or situation under controlled circumstances, with the aim of reducing the fearful responses with repeated exposure.
Example: The EXPOSURE THERAPY could be the best option for your type of condition.

implicit bias
noun
Unconscious favoritism toward or prejudice against people of a particular ethnicity, gender, or social group that influences one's actions or perceptions.
Example: You're implicit bias are affecting your attitude.

lucid dreaming

A type of dream where the dreamer becomes aware that they are currently dreaming while the dream is still in progress.
Example: The view that conscious awareness of dreaming is a learnable skill that can enable dreamers to control
the direction and content of their dreams.

mental health

A state of psychological, emotional, and social well-being that enables individuals to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn, work well, and contribute to their community.
Example: OT's usually work in either hospitals or social services, and can work with a very wide range of people including children, teenagers, adults, and elderly: in MENTAL HEALTH, leaning disability, physical disability or rehabilitation settings.

mood disorders
noun
A category of psychological disorders characterized by the elevation or lowering of a person's mood, such as major depression or bipolar disorder.
Example: Your mood disorder can affect the way you are taking decisions.

operant conditioning
noun
A method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for voluntary behavior.
Example: It is a type of therapy that that combines classical conditioning and OPERANT CONDITIONING. Classical conditioning predicts the aversive event that will follow a certain behavior and OPERANT CONDITIONING "teaches" through negative reinforcement, how to prevent the event from occurring.

phobia

An extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.
Example: This will lead to a sense of accomplishment of battling their PHOBIA and also prevent a relapse as they have the knowledge that they are capable of controlling their fear and feel anxious about and anxiety.

self-awareness

The ability to monitor your own inner world—thoughts, emotions, and beliefs—and understand how these factors, along with your behaviors, affect yourself and others.
Example: This state is characterized by diminished SELF-AWARENESS and individuality.

Example: It was a busy week last week with moving in to my halls, meeting lots of new people and having induction days every day for my Occupational THERAPY course.

unconscious mind
noun
Vast reservoir of feelings, thoughts, urges, and memories outside our conscious awareness, significantly influencing our behavior, emotions, and decisions, often holding repressed, traumatic, or automatic information that shapes who we are without us knowing.
Example: These can also be done in the UNCONSCIOUS MIND, resulting in us being unaware that we're carrying this out and so it's harder to control.

visual perception

The brain's ability to interpret, analyze, and make sense of visual information received from the eyes, allowing individuals to understand their surroundings.
Example: The use of stimulus was very helpful as it enables him to use intact VISUAL PERCEPTION skills to compensate for the redundant visual cache.

working memory
noun
Cognitive system that acts as a temporary mental workspace, allowing for the simultaneous storage and active manipulation of a limited amount of information.
Example: It is important to bear in mind that although the tasks used in these studies require attentional capacities, they often rely heavily on WORKING MEMORY and even low-level visuospatial abilities, hence dementia may be a product of these areas and not an attentional deficit.
